Great. New players for posters to claim anti-Cowboys bias for. Lol.
agree! Witten, Fitzgerald and Brees for sure. Anyone else a lock? Please give your thoughts.Witten should easily get in. Dez/Lee shouldn't even be in the discussion
No because nothing can cover Jason Witten. The question with Witten isn't does he get in. It's will his bust have a toupee?
Good question, but tough to say many of the guys (outside of the three you mentioned) eligible this year are really locks. I could see Pouncey getting in, but typically interior OL guys have to be truly elite level players or wait several years. Frank Gore was more of a consistent/ longevity guy than elite, but it has him ahead of Barry Sanders in rushing yards. Another guy who probably has to wait but I'd assume would get in?agree! Witten, Fitzgerald and Brees for sure. Anyone else a lock? Please give your thoughts.
Dez definitely isn't making itWitten should be first ballot. Loved Dez but doubt he ever makes it in. Lee could've been in the conversation, but injuries robbed him of a potentially incredible career.
Witten is second only at tight end to Tony Gonzalez all-time in receptions (and is fourth overall among all receivers) and yards. As much as I like Woodson and believe he should be in, I think Witten deserves to get in first ballot. No disrespect to Witten, but Woodson deserves to get in before him. It's a travesty to see him denied every year. And knowing the HOF bias, I seriously doubt they will select Witten for his first eligible year. The HOF is a joke!!
The 2010 Chargers were crazy. They had the #1 offense AND the #1 defense (In Yds, in pts they were 2nd on O, and 10 on D...but not really because of the D). They still missed the playoffs despite going 7-2 in their last 9 games. Their special teams were just incredibly bad, particular the first part of the season when they went 2-5.Fitz and Brees the abvious locks.
Witten will get in but first round?
Dez numbers put him past some of the old time HoF recievers but honestly shouldn't be on the list
Hate to say it but Lee shouldn't be considered either. To much of an injury plagued career. If he stayed healthy he might have been considered a 1st round lock.
Rivers is an interesting case. Elite level quarterback with no hardware to show for it. Chargers were a terrible team bar a year or two. Only had top 10 rushing for 2 years of his career then they were average to bad the rest ranging from 11-31st. Never had a top 5 defense, top 10 defense only 3 or 4 years, rest of the years they were terrible. First couple years his special teams were legit top 3. Rest of his career they were some of the leagues worse. His offensive line was good the first 2 years(11th, 4th overall) but the rest of his 15 year career they were TRASH. Below average to flat out bottom 5 for 5 or 6 years. Sounds very familiar with Romos supporting casts but Rivers in my mind was better than Romo overall.
Rivers and Romo played at elite levels for years but have no hardware to show for it. They share very bad supporting casts bar a year or two for the majority of their careers. Both QBs took beatings behind bad OLs
Oh, I agree. Witten deserves to get in first ballot, but how the HOF has been lately in regards to Cowboys' players, not sure they will. Most likely they will make him wait. I hope I'm wrong. I feel bad for Woodson cuz he's been waiting a heck of a long time to get in. He's not getting any younger!! LOLWitten is second only at tight end to Tony Gonzalez all-time in receptions (and is fourth overall among all receivers) and yards. As much as I like Woodson and believe he should be in, I think Witten deserves to get in first ballot.
sorry dont buy it on witten, his 4 all pro selections say he was in the top for at least 4 of his years and his other accolades and yardage support otherwise. Yes he had a long career but he was great for a number of year and very good for many years and very consistent.I seriously have a problem with the inflation of the HOF.
Deion once said, and i think he is right: The HOF should be for players that changed the game (because they were so good).
I dont see that in most players going into the HOF in last years.
Looking realistically at Witten, Dez and Lee sorry i dont see one of them deserving to be in the HOF.
Witten was a good TE with a long career. That counts for him. He may have been the top TE in the league during one year of his career. But not more. Did he change the game ? No. How does he compare to real greats like Gonzales? Sorry but he aint no competition.
Dez had 3-4 good years. He dominated with his strength. Never was a great WR tecnique wise or from understanding the game. He had maybe 2 years where you could argue he was one of the top 3 or 4 WRs. Sorry but he should not even be considered for the HOF.
The same as for Dez goes for Lee. He for sure had much more understanding of the game and was a good student of the game. But he always "could have been a great one" if he could have only stayed on the field for a longer duration. Could have been is not enough to me to be considered for the HOF. Good LB with a lot of upside. Great instincts and great understandibg of the game - no question. But what he was able to show on the field to me just doesnt make it.
I dont even wanna start with the other names on the actual list. Alex Smith ? Come on. GT/O.
Witten had more catches and yards than Gates. Plus he had four 1000 yard seasons compared to two for Gates.Witten may get in first time because it's a weak class, but if Gates wasn't a first ballot hofer then Witten isn't either
Gates has the record with most tds by a TE with 116Witten had more catches and yards than Gates. Plus he had four 1000 yard seasons compared to two for Gates.
Witten is all decade isn’t he? He should get in first try.None will get in next year IMO. Witten at some point. The other two dont get in period.
Dez, Lee, Alex Smith, Gurley , Edleman have no business being mentioned for the HOFDez has ZERO shot at the HOF. He only had 3 real good seasons in 8 years.
