Witten, Dez and Sean Lee eligible for HOF next year

Gates has the record with most tds by a TE with 116
He did have a big edge with TDs but the other numbers favor Witten. Not to mention he was very well respected.

Dez, Lee, Alex Smith, Gurley , Edleman have no business being mentioned for the HOF
Edelman’s playoff numbers are why he has a very slim shot. His 1442 playoff yards have him 3rd all time behind Rice and Kelce. He has the second highest receiving playoff average and has 3 SB rings. Lynn Swann is in the HOF mainly because of his SB performances.

Right or wrong, Super Bowl participation goes a very long way in the voting. One ring would have made Witten a no-brainer.

In my mind and I'm sure in the mind of most Cowboys fans, he is already a no-brainer, but we will see.

Dez stopped being Dez the moment he signed that contract and he is more famous for the "almost" catches.

For his last nine seasons, Lee missed 45 of 144 games due to injury and played in a total of three playoff games, all after he turned 30. His chances are slightly above zero.

Witten is borderline first ballot. He was in the top 3 nearly his whole career, but was never the best TE in the league.

Dez and Lee have no chance. Witten might not make it round one b/c he was never the best TE in the league and he lacks hardware. Being a Dallas Cowboy certainly does not help either.

Great. New players for posters to claim anti-Cowboys bias for. Lol.
That's 180% from reality in this thread. people are discussing why two suggested Cowboys players DON'T belong in the HoF.

Your agenda, as usual, is false and self serving.

If Rivers gets in then Romo has to go in too. At that point, players are getting in by having good not great careers

Wrong! Rivers is currently 6th on the all time passing list and Romo is 40th. Plus Rivers had a 5-7 playoff record compared to 2-4 for Romo. Not to mention Rivers won some divisional round games and played in a conference title game. Romo accomplished none of that.

It’s about putting up numbers with QBs, RBs and WRs. Warren Moon got in on the first ballot despite a 3-7 playoff record due to his numbers.

when you are first team All Pro then you are considered the best in the league. Twice that happened so you are wrong

Romo also has better numbers then Rivers as regards TD to INT ratio; QB rating; Completion percentage, YPA.

I'm going to say the same thing I saw every year when it comes to the HOF. They should dedicate one entire draft class to the Cowboys to make up for all the ones who should be in.

Next year JWit better be a first ballot. Then again when it comes to the HOF, I don't trust them any further than I can throw my house.
Who has a bigger house, you or Dak? And does yours have a coogi room, where you can go and share your thoughts?

Witten is thee only player who will eventually get into the HOF from that list among his teammates. He is definitely not a 1st ballot HOFer.

Brees and Fitz are locked locks that lock

Rivers, I see him on the same level as Romo to be honest. Very good, but not at that HOF level. Threw a lot of picks

Witten has a chance at 1st ballot too.

Gore had the longevity, but even then he's 20th in rushing TDS.
Only 1 All-pro season, #2 team.
Did make the All Decade team in 1910, I mean 2010, and handful of probowls.

Think he will get in at some point due to the bulk rushing stats.
Rivers has the 6th most passing yards and TDs in NFL history.

Not saying he was better, but similar high passer rating and much greater longevity separates him from Tony
like Romo, I consider him better than Eli, but on worse teams

HOF chances
Eli….yes.mostly average stats but 2 rings
Rivers…maybe…HOF stats but no rings
Romo…no…not enough years of stats and no rings

Rivers is Romo quality but with nearly 80% higher volume numbers

60k yards (#6 all time) vs 34k (#40)
421 TDs (#6 alltime) to 248 TDs (#28)

Its not close…. Though on a per season only basis, very similar

Our guy needed 4-5 more healthy years of high level ball
