Obviously have no clue how incompetent Garrett had become since 2013....the Jones will every player here and gone under McCarthy lenses...

You need to explain in plain English what everything after the ... is. There seems to be missing some words but I'm not sure what words are missing.

Exactly. I do, too. For some strange reason some fans think it is OK for potential greatness to just be good enough. It took Dez 8 full seasons before he started working with the route guru, David Robinson and that is when he thought he was going to get cut.

Dez is one of the players that his diehard fans do everything they can to find an excuse for all of his mistakes too. Then they will turn around and criticize the hell out of player like Dak who makes peanuts, was drafted in the 4th round, works hard, and significantly outperforms his expectations.

I just don’t get the mind set. Players like Dez and Zeke have lower expectations due to their natural ability, but other players have high expectations and need to be damn near perfect because the finger will be pointed their way.

All true brother and for the life of me I just cant figure it these guys have so much natural talent and potential but just become satisfied to take the line of least resistance and never reach their true potential

You guys need to stop with the bs and get with the program...

This is a motivated Dez that is willing to earn a spot on the team... he’s the best receiver we’ve had since Irvin and it’s not even a close.. I think Jerry will and should give him a chance.

Go Dez.

I believe you could be Comeback Player of the Year if you get on the field.

I believe Dallas at least owes you a tryout if only to decide your status. If it is not for them
..then for some other team to evaluate.

As our greatest WR in history, you are owed that.

You guys with your Dez hate make no sense to me. If you want to hate Dez,fine. But remember Jerrah loves him.

Don't be surprised if Dallas does give Dez a closed secret workout to make their own decision.

We'll see.

Being a soldier, I live and die by loyalty. Give 'em a try, Cowboys.

hey should ditch Tavon Austin Austin and let Dez return punts/kicks

Dez last returned punts in 2012.
He averaged 5.5 yds a return and led the league with 5 fumbles
on only 12 returns that year.

I don't remember for sure, but I'll bet money many of us were
screaming for them to get him out of there.

This should end all current and future talk of Dez returning punts, but it won't.... lol/smh

He may have been at one time the best receiver since Irvin, but once he signed his last contract it was straight down hill from there.. Not once did he break 1000 yards and his 2nd from his last season he was 1 drop from leading the league in drops and he DID lead the league in drops his last season. He never had blazing speed to start out with and is now 31 years old and no doubt even slower now. You need to stop thinking Bryant is the pre 2014 receiver and realize after getting cut by the Cowboys he sat for the 1st nine weeks of the season because nobody wanted him. If it wasn't for the fact that the saints lost a couple receivers to injury and were in a desperation mode, Bryant very well might have sat the entire season. If he sat the entire season it would have been likely that he would sat the entire 2019 season too. Even at that the very 1st practice as a saint he tore his achilles tendon. Bryant hasn't played a down now in two complete seasons There are way to many younger faster receivers that are better than a 31 year old has been receiver. It doesn't matter how motivated he is, father time has caught up to this old one trick pony receiver.

Dez could have healed up from his lingering problems, and catching balls from a Jugs machine is certainly something he *could* have been doing for a long time.

I think he will probably have a lot of upside relative to the limited salary he's likely to command, though his history here makes him a bad fit for us, much like I'd say Witten is now. Too much deference because of who they've been to the franchise in the past instead of what they mean now.
Well said. :D

Most defiantly at 57 Im on the down side but can still work guys half my age into the ground . These guys are soft I would have loved to have them out doing tree work with me when I was in my 20s and 30s . They would beg for training camp when I was done with them .

When I was in early 20s I thought I worked hard and I did compared to everyone around me then one summer I helped my Amish friends and found there was a whole other level of work ethic and dedication,... opened my eyes and made me better .
Thats what these guys need some old school work ethic . Tapping out was never an option in my day . You finished the job period

This is irrelevant to the conversation, but I’ll address it. I haven’t reached my full potential, but my career isn’t over yet. I still have ~20-30 more years to get there. I will say it has been pretty damn successful up to this point. I will also say my father taught me about work ethic at a young age instilling the mindset that regardless of what you do, try to be the best at it. “If you are digging ditches, be the best damn ditch digger there is”, he would say.

Maybe that mindset is why I look at someone like Dez and get frustrated by wasted potential. The dude is showing us now he has the ability to work hard in the off season, but he has to because his natural talent has declined. I would have liked to heard stories like this when he did have his amazing natural talent.

Now, what has happened in your life to where you feel it is OK to blame coaches while tolerating Dez being a top 2 receiver over a couple year span instead of wanting him to be a top receiver for a long stretch of time?

Dez burned a lot of bridges. Calling Sean Lee a snake was low.
I love Lee, don’t get me wrong, but the seems like all the bridges Dez burned won’t be Cowboys next year. I don’t think there’s a guarantee Lee will be back.

This is the other problem with fans. If they didnt see it, it must not have happened. Dez worked hard every off season.
