I am assuming "checked off" means approved or signed off and if my interpretation is correct then the sad thing is that the entire organization went down this path together, without dissent. Two of the 3 bozos responsible for this decision are gone, but McClay is still there. McClay signing off on Marinelli's stupidity is the most disturbing aspect of this story.

 Maybe somebody should have asked Big Mike why they (GB) traded down with the pick right before Watt was taken. All of this sounds good until they go 6-10 and the Fat Man takes his own turn passing up HOFers in the draft. This ain’t no exact science.

Ted Thompson had final say in the Green Bay. That was part of the problem that created the rift with Big Mc. Thomson wasn't getting the players Mike needed or wanted.

I mean it’s a good excuse... but it doesn’t change anything. The Fat Man isn’t going to magically avoid busts and he also likely signed off on most of the Packers picks. The idea that he will usher in a magical new age of drafting is pretty funny... which is going to become apparent really soon.

I'm not real sure that's what the article said. The article says that McClay agreed that Watt fit more of a LB role and Taco fit DE. It did not say that he agreed with the pick or analysis or whatever. And that is a true statement IMO. He's not really a 43 DE. The article also didn't say that Marinelli liked or rated Taco over Watt. It said they slated DE position and that's why the decision was made to take Taco. Horrible decision for sure but the honest truth is that this was all driven by the teams blind pursuit of a pass rusher and not the more reasonable approach of Best Player Available.

Screw you Marinelli. You cost us twice in recent years.............. Charlton over Watt and then pushing for Hill last year.

The damage Marinelli did is breathtaking.

.......but how many gears have you wrestled?

I said every year I can't believe we let an 0-16 bum HC even have a say on what color gatorade the players drank. What a trash coach. We can watch max crosby take a step back this year with the raiders because he won't sign marinelli's contract and marinelli only lets guys get 50-60% of the snaps a game. such a bum jerry sucks for allowing him and garrett here.

This argument always reminds me of how Wade approaches things. I’m not a fan of drafting so open ended. Guys like Parcels came in with very specific things they looked for in their players at certain positions, and I think there’s a lot to be said for having a workable structure like that. Belichick seems to work that way, as well.

I mean yes hindsight is 20/20 and I am sure every team could look back and wish they had drafted a different player at one point with multiple of their picks in multiple drafts, but at the end of the day you make a pick and hope its right.
That is true but taco had concerns about him before the draft
You will miss on players but if you get guys that work hard you usually get someone who can atleast contribute
