Time is up to give Dak the benefit of the doubt

That first sentence?
The first sentence was "Dak wants out of Dallas and that's why he didn't sign his contract". That isn't evidence, that's just a statement borne from opinion. I'm looking for evidence that the reason he didn't sign a contract is because he wants out of Dallas.

Remind me again, What round was he drafted? As I stated in another thread, if it weren't for Romo and Moore being injured, he'd still be holding a clipboard on the sidelines today...
4th, since you forgot.

He easily would have passed Moore, but sure, Romo would have held the job longer without the injury problems. That doesn't somehow change that Dak has been a great value the last 4 years. He has far exceeded his draft status and paycheck.

Oh here we go..........:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
I’m a big Dak supporter and have been since the beginning. I want him to be resigned. Having said that, his contract demands are bordering on the ridiculous. I’d make him a final offer of whatever the FO is willing to pay, tell him that’s the final offer, and if he doesn’t accept it, he should seek out a trade. I’d either want him signed or traded before the draft.

This is probably going to be another “prove it” year for Dak, albeit one that he is payed very well. They seem too far apart to strike a deal.

Dak’s gonna need to win more games if he wants a record contract. It’s not like his numbers necessarily demand that, and so far he’s only been moderately successful in terms of winning games.

this is a business. Dak will get the deal he wants. The tag was always going to be used as a placeholder to buy time. Now there is a good chance we see a deal get done with him. Saves the cap hit now.

I hope he does, just not from us because the deal he wants is stupid crazy.

Can't wait to see what Patrick Mahomes does. He has spoken about a team friendly deal to retain talent on KC and win more super bowls. If he signs an extension for $35 million/year or less it will be quite telling to see how Dak and his fans feel about him asking for more than Patrick Mahomes.
I don't understand the correlation. What Mahomes does has nothing to do with Dak. Is this a way to call Dak selfish? Because you didn't hear a peep from him when he was making 300k a year.

We shouldn’t have heard a peep from him. We drafted him, gave him a chance, and he signed a contract that was appropriate to where he was drafted. Fate intervened and gave him the shot of a lifetime as a rookie. To his credit, he took advantage of it. Had another team drafted him, it’s possible he isn’t even a starter right now. I love Dak and want him to stay with the team, but I also don’t want to sacrifice the future for an outrageous contract. Why should he make more than Wentz or Goff? They’ve had at least as much success and they were in the same draft class. The fact that he’s next does not mean he should be paid substantially more than them.

No you most definitely should've. He's been one of our best players and he's been the worst paid on the team. He had every right to complain but he didn't. He didn't pull a Zeke or a Leveon Bell.

In regards to him not starting anywhere else.......who knows. He doesn't get enough credit because his team around him is considered good but it wasn't a given he would've turned out this good. I'm willing to bet if Johnny Football was drafted like Jerry wanted him too he would've sucked in there. Mind you, we've seen guys like Matt Cassell who looked good in a Bellichek offense just come here to suck.

Why should he be paid more than Wentz and Goff? He's been better than both in the 4 years they've been all in the league. Stats back this up.

 Man are you serious? Whether you like DAK or not this is a business. Your agent is there to get you the most money possible. Dak wanted the tag because he knows there are 2 other QBs next year that are going to get paid north of 38-40 million a year. I don't understand how anyone can blame Dak when Cowboys management sat on their thumbs while Goff and Wentz deals set the market. For 4 years they paid this guy PEANUTS. Wentz and Goff have been paid nearly 25M more in these 4 years. GET YOUR MONEY DAK!!!!

I don’t have a problem with Dak getting paid WHAT HE IS WORTH. I think most people’s issue is he wants to be paid as the best QB or at an Elite level. And he is neither. And how his idiot team doesn’t factor in America’s Team endorsements is just stupid and greedy. Yah, I said it.

Well, Wentz took his team into the playoffs and to a Super Bowl. Yes, I’m aware he was injured near the end of the season and didn’t play in the playoffs, but he had the season that got them there. Goff took his team to a Super Bowl as well. I’m not bashing Dak at all. As I said, I want him signed, but not for $40 mil per season. Hell no! I don’t mind him getting a bit more than the other two QBs, but no where near that much more. Stats don’t win games. The one knock I have against Dak is he has completely disappeared at times. See our last game of last season. But, I still want to sign him on a “fair” and non-crippling contract. We should’ve used the nonexclusive franchise tag on him so he could’ve seen his market value.

if stats mattered we would have been in the Super Bowl last year with our QB and offensive stats....oh, wait....

By the way, you do realize contracts can’t be redone for a certain amount of time, right.

It’s just not about economics. Also, if it was about economics, Dak and his agent should be taking into account how much extra money he will make being the Cowboys QB.
How much more money will he make being the Cowboys QB as opposed to some other team's QB?

Did Ryan Tanneyhill reset the market in the last week? No. He was next, but he didn’t get paid the most. I’m not saying he’s better than Dak, but if as you say, “that’s how the market works” I guess he should’ve gotten over $35 mil per year. He didn’t get close. Just being next doesn’t mean you should be paid the most. Hell, Brees just signed for $25 mil per year.

That wasn't my point, but keep repeating "next up."
And Brees isn't going into his 5th season, good God.
