Are there really fans that would rather still have Garrett?...

...............
..I believe that question would receive more accurate responses after HC Mike McCarthy has a chance to at least coach one game for Dallas first!...

I dont believe it even matters. Change was needed period. We all had an opportunity to witness JG put his stamp on the team and give his absolute best, and we all saw that was simply not good enough. Wether or not MM exceeds JGs level of success is irrelevant at this point. We needed to go another direction. If MM fails I still will not regret firing JG, I will only regret who we chose to replace him.

Garrett objectively is probably in the top 25% of coaches in NFL history... but the mental midgets here don't like to think too hard. Gonna be a real funny place to be here when things don't magically improve just because they replaced the coach... the mental gymnastics will likely become legendary.
Garrett did some good things here. He brought some organization and better linear thinking about where this organization was heading. We finally stopped being stupid with WR trades, over-paying for veterans on the last end of their careers, and we got better at grooming young talent. Garrett’s teams were not saddled with old rosters.

But in the modern NFL, head coaches really only have about 5 years to do something special. After 2015, the odds of Garrett being able to do much were long. He got lucky with that 2016 team that should have at least gone to an NFC championship. I would have fired at the end of that season or at the very least after the Atlanta game in 2017. This roster has underperformed. His voice had long ago soured in the locker room.

But like all Cowboys HCs the last qtr century, they usually have to work with one arm tied behind their back with the owner/President/GM/jock sorter/boxing and tractor pull coordinator overstepping boundaries constantly, it is unnecessarily hard to win big here with this “leadership” model.

The overall staff is better but the HC, DC, are not better.

McCarthy offensive system sucks compared to Garrett's. Maybe he helps Moore call a better game and that would be a plus.

ST, OL, And LB coaches were extremely weak last year but they have been upgraded.

I liked Garrett for the most part, but after a near record underperformance versus the team's advanced metrics, and the following issues:

1) Playing for the last minute 40 yd field goal, when a TD is within reach.
2) Getting outcoached. Would happen at least a couple times a year (witness Rams vs Boys in 2018 season, most games against Andy Reid, recent Patriots games, etc).
3) Half time adjustments? We don' need no steenkin' halftime adjustments!

It was time to move on.

It’s amazing but some fans become fans of the person and not what their performance

Well.....uh.......well......if I have to, if you're breaking my arm, or my leg, or my neck....Jason wasn't that bad a coach given the history of the NFL.

He ranks 54th in wins, 85, (behind Ted Marchiroda at 87) and 55th in winning percentage, .559 (behind Mike Ditka .560) out of 500 coaches on record.

How good is that?

Jimmy Johnson had 80 wins, 64 losses for a .556 winning percentage (ranking 62nd).

Where does he rank in playoff and Super Bowl wins?

A colossal underachiever and political coach . even with Jerry’s meddling , the talent was worthy of at least 4-6 more playoff wins and a super bowl . Garrett had very simplistic strategies , but was so convincing early on that many thought he was always about to break though . But the players could tell he is weak .

Garrett should have been gone by 2014
Many people defended Garrett
Most of the fans saw he was terrible
If he was good , he would have been snatched by another franchise as a head coach .

Comparing regular season wins between coaches only matters if they have never won a Super Bowl.

No one ever has, does or will care that Garrett won more games as head coach of the Cowboys than Jimmy Johnson.

Really boils down to Jerry's massive ego admitting that the Dak experiment is a massive failure!
I wish us GL as I have a feeling we will need it.

Mike McCarthy managed a 6 win season with a HoF QB in his prime starting all 16 games. Because he’s better at ‘coaching.’ The next coach immediately won 13 games with that team despite no previous HC experience.

Can you think of a head coach who did worse with a hall of fame QB?

I’m okay with the swap.
Yeah because the 2019 GB roster was identical to the 2018 one.

They added Zadarius Smith, Preston Smith, Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage in the off-season and improved their defense tremendously.

Go troll somewhere else.

Of the 500 coaches who have coached in the history of the NFL, how many do you think have even one Super Bowl win? Let me guess, 250?
Of those 500 coaches, how many of them inherited an already talented team and got to remain head coach for 10 years despite constantly underachieving?

He doesn’t get credit for having an above average regular season record. Barry Switzer did that. Wade Phillips did that.

2 playoff wins in 10 years with two franchise quarterbacks and several pro bowlers on both sides of the ball is pathetic.

Wasn’t me.
I was on board this had become too toxic environment for Garrett. It was time for him to go and should have done so before the season was over. Had a thread early on stating as such. Right after the Patriot game. But I wasn’t on board he was totally at fault.
LOL Garrett was toxic enough all by himself.

......…
Bringing in a handful of aged DL, two kickers, the misfit MIA Smith and ??? and all of a sudden his greatness overshadows Garett?Id say fans are cooped up in this shut in order and wanted so badly for release of Garett and the old staff they dont realize the offseason does not win you championships, you must be better then the guy you ae replacing and that mean an NFCCG appearance, win and a sb appearance.. Period anything short of that and MM Is a failure..
….....
Well since he hasn't had time to coach even ONE game, he hasn't had a chance to "overshadow" anybody yet. But I'll tell ya what, I'd place my bets on McCarthy ANY day compared to Garrett.
As for "a handful of aged DL, two kickers, the misfit MIA Smith and" ??? You can't replace a whole team in just one off season, let alone before the draft no less!

And as for "NFCCG appearance, win and a sb appearance" plus a SB WIN, MM has been there/done that already.
Garrett has never even sniffed either one.
Like I said, I'll place my bets on McCarthy long before the likes of Garrett..

...….the definition of suck would not be Garett's record the last 10yrs..sorry average yes suck NOPE sorry better study up on your.. the most used term for Garetts teams have been mediocrity , well that means middle, but suck would be bottom.. that we were not..

Yeah you're right, he wasn't "bottom" of the pile, he was definitely mediocre, you got that right. Like 8-8 4 times in 10 years and a measly 2 playoff wins.
But after 10 freaking years of mediocre and underachieving, people started feeling like he downright SUCKED.

they should go be NYG fans now....
I still wonder if he really was as incredibly bad at his job as it appeared or if he was purposely trying to torpedo the team but keep his job...I still don’t know.
You could seriously go to a Madden video game tournament and find 20 people who could better manage games, call plays, and find mismatches than him.
