I am pro Dak, and I think that he should get paid. I think he is a better player than most of you do, and I think he has upside.

Having said the forgoing, it seems like Dak is trying to become the highest paid player ever. I think that’s really short sighted. This is a really bad look for Dak and is really souring me on Dak.

While Dak is doing everything that he can to get every dollar he can from the Cowboys, they would be remiss to not give a really hard look at drafting a QB high. If I were the Cowboys and an acceptable substitute is there when they are on the clock they have to take a good hard look at pulling the trigger on him.

Well the QB market has been on an exponential increase for just under a decade now.
Shorter term deal of 4 years means Dak gets to talk a new deal in 2023-2024.
Longer term deal of 5-6 years means Dak stays on his current 2020 market rate deal for one or two more years. And with the new CBA, you don't want to holdout anymore...

He was betting on himself last year getting the team to the postseason and the superbowl.
Therefore showing his worth to the team and for them to pay him his demands.
They went 8-8. NFCE was won by a team with a 9-7 record...
Yet, is he offering any favors on money, SB or term to the team after his 8-8 campaign?

Man wants to get paid, I get that. But he isn't doing the team any favors with his contract demands

While I hate the business side of football I don't begrudge any player trying to get the best deal they can. Dak had a lot of expectations placed on him as one of the cheapest paid QB in the league and never cried about it, now he will looking to get paid and in the end I think the 2 sides will reach a deal. Worse case is he plays on tag this year.

Obviously he needs to go sit in Cabo until Jerry caves.

I'll go ahead and say it again.

Dak wants less years, so the team must want more years, yes?

If the team gets their way, and Prescott is not happy with his salary in a couple of years, he will simply hold out and we will be right here again anyway.

At the same time...less years equals less guaranteed money, which allowed the team to move on much more easily if that's how things go.

I see zero benefit from the teams point of view in holding out for a longer deal.

OK,,
He wants to enter the market again in 4 years for more money. He isn't look for long term. If I'm the Cowboys I'll be looking at a QB in the mid rounds.
4 yrs... in this league, that is kind of long term, esp for Dak.

IIRC the penalty for holding out under the new CBA is 40k per day, and it cant be forgiven.

I could be wrong but I think that's what it is.

For most players, yes I agree. But QB money? Not so much.

If he misses an entire training camp that's less than 3 million, when at that point they are probably arguing over 50-100 million.

I am done with him. He is not a leader just proved it with his stupid party. This guy needs stars around him to do anything while a lot of QB’s in the league have a lot less talent around them and they are efficient. I would rather tank the season and draft a QB next year.

If I'm Prescott I grab as MUCH guaranteed money as I can right NOW, not get super greedy and figure to cash in even more when you're on the wrong side of 30.

That's greed to a very stupid level.

Between endorsements and guarantees he is staring at close to 200M likely in earnings, and doesnt have to win a THING to get it.

Its not enough apparently.
