For the guys that know these players who would you take at 17? I hear Chaisson first and a lot on Murray but what about Baun? I have never seen any of them play but from what Ive read it seems like Baun is a tackling macine and could be used as a chess piece at LB or DE both needs. What do you think and who would you rather have? Thanks for the input
Baun is the better pass rusher and tackler, he can be use both in 4-3 and 3-4

First pick needs to be in the secondary or trade down and get another 2. Personally I want them to trade down. I would rather they stack picks to land a CB, S, C, LB and DT. In my opinion an edge rusher is not needed unless they think Armstrong is a waste and ASmith can’t help. Something tells me Smith is going to help a lot hence DE is not a big need. That changes if Vice Commissioner Mara blocks Smith and Gregory.

Opinions Vary.

I see him as a left defensive end, moving DLaw to the right end.

Just my opinion though.

So as I said, he's likely a SDE type than an athletic edge guy. His testing was pretty ehhhh.

I'd be disappointed in him at 17. Lower ceiling than other guys. He's basically a Crawford clone IMO.

What kind of player do you believe Chaisson will become? Is he solid against the run or purely a pass rusher?

He is good against the run as well. High motor, athletic, fast, never out of the play, always playing with aggression.

He is just a little raw with his pass rush moves and need coaching on technique at the next level. Most do.

Offenses hate physical defenses for a reason. So I dream of a big and physical defense. I hope Mike McCarthy does too.

Chiasson-- had an ACL so missed a year and was probably a little less than 100% his final season but you saw his impact in big games versus Bama, OU and Clemson.
Baun-- A 3-4 OLB type. Not as explosive as Watt but more proven in college.
Murray-- Super steady every down interior backer. Nothing sexy at all here. Think Damien Hitchens with a bit more speed.

I think I would be disappointed if they took a LB over Chaisson.

If it is to hedge against LVE, it is still stupid. Chaisson can contribute more right away. They can get a LB like Mailk Harrison in the 2nd round.

No disrespect intended, but I think far too many of you are considering “need” in your evaluation. In this case, I doubt NEED lines up with what is going to be available at #17. If you take the best player, you will hit more often than when you reach based on need.

I think you guys would LOVE what Murray brings to the Cowboys. It may not be a need, but you NEED good football players.

I've seen Murray a lot as a Texas high schooler who went to OU.
He's solid but was also inconsistent for an often under-performing OU defense.
He looks the part and tests well but often had minimal impact come game days.

To me he is not a serious consideration for any team at 17.
He is a far lesser player than LVE or Jaylon were coming out.

Chaisson hasn’t had more than 9.5 sacks...in his entire collegiate career! Very little chance he becomes anything other than a solid run and hit SOLB in a 3-4.

Or he’s lying, ‘it’s the season for that.
What he is saying makes complete sense.
Jaylon, LVE backed up by Joe Thomas and Sean Lee is a pretty salty LB group.
BUT LVE is the fly in that ointment with his health.

Lots have us high on LB so something is a smokescreen, that's for sure.

I am hoping Stephen is being honest here as another off ball LB in R1(without a trade down) would be a bummer galore.
