Before those 4 seasons we were 4-12 but people seem to casually forget that.
What’s the difference in 4-12, 8-8 or 10-6? NONE if you know going in with a QB who limits your chances of going to the big dance. You live in JJs mediocrity world!

Coaching is king in football. The Cowboys have as much talent as any other team in this league and should be winning 11-13 games a year but the coaching has been disappointing to say the least.

LOL I guess we need to start praising Garrett since he had the same win/loss record as Dak the past 4 years.

I agree. I need it to be a early 2nd so it would have to be a team that is in the top 10 this year and who needs a quarterback doesn’t address it in the first.
I wouldn't consider a trade down if any of these players are still available...
Kinlaw
Ruggs
Chaisson
1 of the to top 3 maybe 4 top OTs slipped.
Would highly consider a trade down if all of the above other than the 4th OT is off the board.
Wont bother mentioning a top 3 QB, that will only incite the Dak Chaos..lol doesn't matter, none of the top 3 QB prospects will slip but a 4th maybe could, that would be great trade bait if they are looking to add later round value.

His hip has been cleared. It's the ankles they worry the most about.

Also, only about 4% of those with hip injuries end up with arthritis within two years of the injury. A lot of this has to do with age though.
Sorry, that’s just not conpletely accurate

The hip is an injury that is vulnerable to AVN. There are also a number of QB experts who observed his workout tape that he put out there and noted that he is still favoring the hip and is not 100%. Others said he was fine.

AVN takes awhile to develop. It’s not something that can be put to bed just a few months after the break. The blood flow may be ok right now but that’s the insidious thing about this injury. It can be sneaky and bite you after you think you’re past it

That’s what happened with Bo and what ended his career. He was fine right after having his injury. He recovered, similarly to Tua, and was absolutely amazing for several years but he developed AVN and he was screwed. Once it sets in, you’re in trouble and Tua’s exact injury has about a 15% chance of developing AVN within the next year.

The ankle injury is temporary and should be fine.

These injuries are two different beasts. One is a concern right now for starting the season. The other is a question of how many years do you expect from your top 6 pick and are you willing to gamble that he won’t develop AVN In a year or so.

That’s why teams are dropping him off their early boards entirely. They don’t think his chances at a long term career are a worthy gamble

He may be fine, but his history shows that he gets hurt and will get hurt. He doesn’t play smart with his body. These aren’t freak injuries. These are injuries that are the result of how he plays

I like Tua. His arm and ability are amazing. I just don’t think there’s any way I would take him if I was Miami or LA. I think they would be smart to take Herbert and if they don’t get him, trade down and look at either Love or Tua in the bottom half of the round.

Someone will roll the dice on Tua. I don’t doubt that. I’m just suggesting that there are very valid concerns avoutb his hip thet make it too risky for some

I can’t believe Cowboys fans would want to take chance on Tua. Reading these posts and then listening to Dennis Pitta, Ravens tight end that had the same injury, I don’t know if you can draft him in the first round at all. Pitta dislocated his hip again without getting any contact. His hip just popped out. The nightmare scenario with Tua is he gets rolling and then with no contact that hip pops out. I guess lots of our fans love and miss Romo. Well Tua will be just like Romo was in his final seasons. Tua is just too injured prone and I love the kid. By the way Dak is way better then Tua and he would be lucky to get where Dak was his rookie season let alone what Dak is now.

We miss Romo because we like QBs that have elite skill.

Give me the elite skill level back.. Give Dallas Tua.

I’m more afraid of paying Dak whatever he wants and maintaining mediocrity because of it then I am of Tua’s hip popping out..

If Tua doesn’t work out then draft another guy.

Dak has given Dallas no reason to bow to all of his contract demands. His play on the field is so so.

Stability of the hip - an inherently stable structure - is sufficiently established with surgical intervention and appropriate healing; the incidence rate of recurrent dislocation is 1%.

Perhaps the largest long-term concern regarding hip dislocation is the development of arthritis or other intra-articular injuries (i.e. labral tears, etc.) While minimal research has been completed on athletes, a study published in 2018 and focused on the lay population found an incidence rate of 4% for arthritis two-years after suffering a traumatic posterior hip dislocation.

Thanks for playing.

Pitta had multiple hip injuries among other injuries. Oh, and....

Tua is very close to Burrow imo,if his medicals check out then we should consider drafting him if he miraculously falls to 17.

There are very few quarterbacks who should get paid 30 million+. I only believe one,Mahomes. Catch I have always respected your views but Tua injury concern is real and it is not going away. If we build the defense. I think Dak can win us a Super Bowl.

Just asking the question in a devil's advocate sense. How does that medical data account for playing in the NFL? It mentions that most hip injuries arise from trauma such as car accidents. I'd imagine a lay person that had hip surgery may only encounter similar trauma a few more times if any in their lives. An NFL QB might have to endure similar trauma on a weekly basis during a season. Is it possible for that incidence rate of recurrent dislocation to be higher than 1% for an NFL QB? How much higher?

These QBs are winning on their rookie deals.

The Cowboys just won’t spend in FA.

That constantly keeps us in a cycle of coming into the new season with only rookies as our real upgrades.

The problem with Dak is all the things he needs to be successful and the resources we have to make that happen.

He needs top 3 money.

He needs elite WRs.

He needs elite RB.

He needs a great OL.

He needs a great defense that causes turnovers.

He also needs great coaching that we may or may not get.

I guarantee there is a handful of rookies and even vets that can win in that environment and they don’t need top 3 money to do it.

The quick fix is to find a QB and I think Herbert, Burrow, and Tua would all be at worst as good as Dak and at best they could be legitimate top 5 QBs in football.

Dallas can also provide all of those guys an optimal foundation to play on.

Yeah I know but the hip Pitta our. It is such a rare injury. I mean the same injury took out Bo Jackson. I guess if he fell to 17 I would consider him. The reality is his contract would not be crippling and the way the board appears to be falling, I would draft him over a second round cornerback.

Other players have had this injury, as Pitta even mention, CJ Mosley had this injury. And I don't remember Mosley having issues with it at all. Also, just from reading, Bo Jackson's injury was different - he suffered avascular necrosis, both Pitta and Tua didn't.

And I'm not even saying I would take Tua at 17. I actually really like this QB draft and think we could grab a good one in the second or third round if we go that route.

I think it's valid questions, but even in the NFL, it doesn't seem to be as cut and dry that this injury is a doom sentence. You have an example of Pitta and an example of Mosley. One recurred (among other injuries) and Mosley who hasn't been phased by it. Jackson's seems to have been more severe.

I don’t want to get caught up with the bash Dak folks. I looked at the draft mocks and realized that Tua is a lottery ticket. He has the talent to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league. I do wonder if he is at 17 would the Joneses pull the trigger. Like I said before his injury is frightening. I don’t think anyone will draft him in the top 15 if he gets past Miami. This could be Jaylon Smith all over again. If we are honest with ourselves Jaylon actually worked out. He has not missed a game and his injury was much worse. Like I said before a second round corner or a lottery ticket quarterback. I might run to the podium. If the Joneses do it they would be the talk of the offseason.

Look at as a Cowboys management. Pick Tua at 17. Keep Dak for one year, release the franchise designation or sign and trade him. The Joneses are just not cold blooded enough to take a chance like that. That is the problem with the Cowboys.
