IMO, if a guy isn't 6'4" 300lbs. he should playing DT for us. So I would have preferred for us to take Jordan Elliott instead.
Surely you don’t think of size as a stand alone factor, with talent level taking a back seat. Besides, he’s got the weight, so it’s just a matter of 2”. Is 2” really a difference maker?

In order for a team to win a Super Bowl is it a requirement for them to have a probowl caliber center? The answer is no. So yes it will be fine enough

I love me some Oline. And Center is #1 on the line for me. Nothing you can do to convince me that a career backup is going to help continue the dominance along the oline.

I understand many of you don't really care and you will take a backup. Not a big deal. Frederick was a monster blow to this line, but I understand people just want to gloss it over. Trust me, Cowboys will be taking a center, either in this draft or the next. Unless they can fill the spot with either stud FA or McGovern miraculously turns into one.

not gonna be able to have 5 studs across the oline. Williams is serviceable like most teams guards. If McGovern can beat out looney at center that’s good for us though.

Don't need 5. But Center and LT are priorities. Looney and Williams is pathetic in the middle. Smith fading.

McGovern is a complete unknown.

I have a lot of faith in Philbin

Cant make gold out of a turd. And Williams coming off major knee surgery? He already had strength issues. Maybe McGovern can get it going. But again...…..a rookie missing an entire season, coming off surgery.

I have more faith in McGovern than I do Williams. McGovern has all the tools to be a good player

Myself, I like the old bull in the china closet to see who is really up to the task..

Sometimes one has a hard time identifying a player on his highlight reel. Sometimes we need a circle or arrow to identify the player before the play. Not the case with Gallimore. Easy to identify Gallimore since he is the biggest player on the DL by far.

I don’t think I ever foresee Gillmore as a “starter.” He strengths fall in line with a rotational guy which is perfectly fine in the 3rd round. McCarthy even made specific mention in the presser last night when speaking of Gillmore that defenses nowadays are sub-based (80% was the percentage he gave IIRC).

He looks physical and can play the slot. Maybe he gets moved to a safety position.

A rotational guy adds great value
Especially when your two starter have some age on them

Hills problem is not talent and traits, his problem is effort on the field and attitude.

Read closer.

I believe you'll find indication from both scouting reports that, coming out of school, both not just one, had been regarded as being "hustle" players.

Exactly
But he has the talent
He doesn’t have the heart and was a bad pick because heart is a huge part of success
My hope is a new staff can get him motivated to be an nfl player
Or his future is at McDonalds

He does hustle, he just doesn't know how to use the physical ability that he has.

I mean, really, how does anyone here get away with pretending to know this kind of thing... no specific offense to you, gimmesix, b/c we see this kind of thing all. the. time.

If you're not at practice... and forgive the presumption that you're not... and you haven't seen the player on the field... then you're guessing. You just are.

Further, even if you did happen to have access to have eyes on the player, not every poster on this board has credentials as a paid coach or scout at even the college level that anyone should be especially persuaded by the diagnosis... and even then if you were one, coaches and scouts are like economists... no shortage of diversity of opinion.

So, I call BS on all the Hill naysaying at least until this coaching staff gets the chance to work with him. We all know that the previous staff, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, had their very specific ideas of what they want each player to do within the scheme, and it's just a guess nothing more but at least one other option here is that the player just didn't fit/execute the scheme to their satisfaction. Maybe nothing changes with the new group, but the kid is still just a kid. He's still got opportunity. I'm gonna root for him, even as some perhaps out of their desire to be able to claim some football wisdom, have dismissed him.

Same with Gallimore, who comes into the league with a not-so-different scouting report, stats and measurables from Hill's.

If one, the other, too.
