LMAO at some of these fans in here. I've been following Dalton since he's been in the NFL. He's horrible! You might as well bring back the other "RED" in Jason Garrett. :facepalm:Come on Dallas fans!! We have to be smarter then this:laugh:
Dalton holds Bengal records for touchdowns passes ( 204) and completions ( 2,757) surpassing Ken Anderson . He also holds club marks for career passer rating (87.5) and games with 300 yards passing(28). His 24 game winning drives also are the most by a Bengal QB,

But Dalton is more famous outside the Bengals for losing in the first round in each of his playoff games which BTW was the Bengals best stretch of playoff appearances in franchise history.

Dalton was one of the most proficient passers when given a solid supporting cast. He led the AFC with a 106.3 passer rating in 2015.

He also holds single season records for passing yards(4,293 in 2013) and touchdowns ( 33) in 2013.

I think we could present a pretty good argument Dalton is most experienced and proven backup QB we’ve signed since perhaps Bernie Kosar. A QB who might mean the season isn’t over if Dak goes down or holds out.

I’d argue it’s a great move for the Cowboys.

yes for Dak lmao hes on the tag and wont get more..
You realize it takes one qb to get a big deal to jump his salary up. Plus next year the price will go up again so.......idk what to tell you. Tbh at the end of year 3 this front office should have either paid him or traded him. i can see being unsure of a guy if hes been injured after 3 years but dak has been an ironman.

If dak played like trubisky i would want him replaced. The hate he gets here after having a career year shows more bias and agenda on the other side when there are no facts to base their claims except tHe EyE teSt durr
So he's above any criticism? And if someone DARE do it they labled "hater".

I am not saying you saying it in THIS post.But...your comment is very clear and aligned with what you and alot of people have said in the past.

"a career year" and 8-8. There I said it. Now let's talk about Andy's 8-8 and how sheety of QB HE is. Since it's a a team game right?

So a top 5 offense across the board. As qb stats go he was top 10 across the board statistically and analytically. If you can prove me wrong ill be more than happy to hear you out if some evidence and proof is provided. Blame 8-8 on the defense and special teams. O and of course our trash coaching staff. Dak was the best player on our team last season.

Yes. It's the only thing I don't like about this move.
This move wasn’t to threaten Daks starting role although the competition might be healthy for him. We aren’t going to pay Dak at least 31.5 million( franchise tag) and bench him.

This signing was to present some insurance for the season if Dak goes down or holds out. Our season wouldn’t necessarily be over like it would be with Rush.

I said before...and I will say it again. We Must trust the new coaches to do what's best for the team. We here? We don't get to decide.....even though we act like we know SO much. TO the death even, it seems.

Sign the players, shoot them all and let God sort them out. It's what Dak got...so now it's HIS turn to roll the dice. He's no different than Romo or another NFL player that lost his job.

Or...is he? Hmm?

no thats for top player you realize 28 players make whatever they can get the rest earn that top market..if this were true Mariota and Winston would be banking now not backups,,Bridgewater and brisset under 25 all the vets who resigned under 25 .. stop acting as if Daks the top 5 élite cant go without player, hes not hes maybe 10th in the league and the tenth layer can expect less then the top 3/4 guys..many qbs dont get a new deal at some new market dragged byt he top 3 players, they gert more then their last deal and very nice deal but its not more..jeez shw me the 28salries other then the top 5 rights now and ill show you how this market talk is a narrative spewed around by agents and some teams cave and other say no..just like rookie qb salaries all changes when owners realized it was a mistake and now you can not pay your QB twice as much as your other star CB, DE, LT, etc there has to ne limits on cap% for many layers but Dak can not demand 34-36 mil without realizing no one jumping at it..

I like the signing a Kitna/Orton kinda

But some of these reactions have me absolutely rolling

I don't know how many people here have actually watched Andy Dalton lol

I was asking myself the same question regarding your comments towards the man...

I follow both the Cowboys and Bengals so I actually have seen Dalton play. A lot. Most every game he has played in. I also have a better insight into the Bengals franchise than those who don't follow them.

Andy Dalton's career was largely wasted. The Bengals franchise is ran like an AAFC franchise in 1958. Dirt cheap with a shoestring budget. He has had the pleasure of playing with 3rd tier FA's signed on the cheap, a constantly banged up and injured Tyler Eifert with AJ Green being the only other elite talent on the Offense. What is more, the man was stuck with a mediocre head coach trying to play Martyball in the modern NFL. Fun fact: Cardinals fans and TV pundants said this same hogwash about Carson Palmer. Carson of course went on to become a playoff caliber QB under Bruce Arians for several years as Dalton took an offense Palmer could only manage 4 wins out of and took them to the playoffs 5 years in a row while breaking every Bengals QB record in existence, setting rookie passing records in line with Marino and Peyton Manning and in his best season, before his horrible O-Line got his throwing hand broken was the #3 ranked QB in the NFL and 8-0.

Did the Cowboys land Tom Brady? No. But they did however land a proven winner and a guy who is 1000 yards away from matching Kurt freaking Warners HOF numbers, who is only 32, not super banged up and who has a good supporting cast for the first time in his career.

I am pumped to see what he can do in the Big D. I hope Prescott takes his ball and goes home, he isn't as good as Dalton is and not worth the money he is asking for or that was offered. Roll with Dalton and Dallas WILL be a NFCC competitor.

Not gonna get stats on you. If you want to battle cherry picked stats...then just claim yourself the winner and we can go on our way.

We're are 8-8 and it is either a TEAM game and everyone shares the burden, including Dak........or it's not. can;t have it both ways which is it?

I agree. That's not going to stop some fans for shouting for Dak to be replaced by him from now until the day Dalton leaves. Then, they'll be shouting for whoever's next ... which I hope is DiNucci because it would be nice to have that draft pick pay off instead of having to shop for a new veteran backup.

Not sure it's a great comparison, but I certainly believe a quarterback of his caliber is capable of winning a Super Bowl with the right team like Foles did.

This is the problem that we always run into with the quarterback argument. Sure, you want the best one out there, but there have been several decent ones who won Super Bowls because of the team they are on: Foles, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jeff Hofstetler ...

With the right team, Dalton could do what those quarterbacks did, but our problem has been that the team hasn't been good enough even when we've gotten elite level QB play.
This is probably best move McCarthy has made. Some insurance with probably the best backup QB we’ve had since the 90’s.

Who cares about that foolishness. This is a solid move by the Cowboys providing us some insurance if Dak goes down or holds out.

Only “Dak “ fans would be butt hurt.

Totally agree. Now it it was Brady...then bet your hiney on it!

I don;t get the puny bickering about it. It was a great sign and why not let the chips fall where they will. Let the coaches allow the best player to start. Not sure Garret did that but MM get's the benefit of doubt for now.

SIGN the players and let best man win. No agenda. No favoritism or pet projects or superstitions.

This isn’t about a competition for the starting role. Jerry isn’t going to pay Dak 31.5 million on the Tag and bench him. This is purely about insurance.

So you REFUSE to acknowledge Dak shares blame in 8-8. WelI get it, I wouldn't if I were YOU either. Your asinine side won;t allow it....

I stand by by statement. Sign the players and let the best man win. Dak or Andy or zeke or Pollard....doesn't matter to me...I have no stupid agenda that blinds me and makes me post stupid crap like you just did. Big internet tough guy....okay...big drunk king.

I did which i why i said you need to stop making excuses for Dak, and i differ with you Lewis may have had a better record with Romo as his QB and i say may have. But with Dak his record would have been even worse
And you’ve come to this conclusion how? Dak takes care of the football far better than Palmer and Dalton did....and Romo is far more the playmaker than both are.
