From what Im to understand the money is agreed upon. Its the years 4 VS 5. They want 5. I think 4 is better anyways. Dak is tied to McCarthy. McCarthy's deal is 5 years, but coaches are usually fired the year before their contract is up if they arent going to be kept. If we reach point, then it is time for a rebuild and Prescott will be entering his 30's. At which point he comes off your books when you are hiring a new HC

5 is better. It allows them to lower each season’s cap hit.

This makes sense.

And before folks say, “shouldve paid him last year!”, do you remember how terrible he looked for half that season?

1. Dak probably wouldnt have accepted what they were offering then

2. Cowboys would be foolish to offer top 5 money to a QB that was outright horrible for at least 16 out of his last 32 games

Yep this is a years thing and the Cowboys are right to want 5 years.

I can't even venture a guess where Dak's contract is destined to go. We've batted this thing around for so long now that I'd venture to say it's their baby now. I'm fed up with delving into business that doesn't affect me any more than being a fan allows. The FO and Dak can do whatever suits them without my help. At this point, I'm fed with this up and ready to get past being involved with their business. It's obviously a waste of time.

They can settle it without any advice from the likes of me on the outside looking in. They'll surely do whatever suits them in the end. I'll content myself with being a fan and leave them to settle their own affairs. That's obviously what will happen, regardless of what anyone else thinks. If they're content to continue under the tag, let's wish them well and happily stand aside. I'm perfectly content being a fan and nothing more. ;)

1. The Cowboys should have been offering what they are offering now the moment Wentz and Goff got paid. They have been lowballing the whole time. If they haven't gone higher than the reported $105 million guaranteed they are still lowballing now.

2. Dak had a better resume than Wentz after 3 years. The one season of the first three Wentz looked better than Dak, his team was so great the Eagles won the Super Bowl without him.

Dak Haters come out and play!

It will be wonderful watching this thread.

We've gone from $25M - $28M July 2019 now it's at least $32M per...

Have our chances to win decreased?

Surprise surprise Cowboys BUILT A FORMIDABLE TEAM through draft and free agency...

What is the title of this thread again

Stephen Jones will sing the same tune 10 years from now....

Your hatred and ill comments to be directed to the man Stephen Jones who simply feels that paying Dak big bucks isn't a championship plan.

P.S. Funny how this didn't apply for Zeke and D-Law and esp Coop????

Come on Dak prevent defense garbage time Bortles Tebow Prescott is worth $35-$40 million a season. It's the intangibles - just look at how he played in week 16 last season versus the Eagles' third string in the only game that really mattered. Soak in his leadership skills - he commanded the huddle. Pay the man!

It only hurts your chances when that QB isn’t capable of carrying the weight of the offensive load and doesn’t elevate others’ play.

Unfortunately for us, Dak can’t do either. So if we pay him what he’s likely wanting, it’ll be pretty tough to keep enough talent around to make up for all of Dak’s deficiencies

It’s “poison” to make the point that paying one player a disproportionate amount of money is bad business practice when a salary cap is at play? Hmmm, alright I guess.
Hello??? Cowboys have already had to account for the $31.5 fully guaranteed and fully hitting this year's salary cap if Dak signs the franchise tag and refuses to agree to a new longterm contract. It would be better if a longterm contract were agreed upon because much of the hit could be extended to later years.

That still doesn’t discredit the fact that teams with highly-paid QBs are proven to be less likely to win championships — which is the point of the OP.

TFB Steven you’re the one who put yourself in this position. You have overpaid your previous QB your current RB and WR. Your DE and your LB.

I don’t blame Dak for trying to get his an athletes opportunities are limited. He’s been playing on the cheap for 4 years now. And just like the previous QB you put a suspect defense and a average coach out there week in and week out and expected miracles

do I think Dak is a 40 mil QB no I don’t but it’s not my money and this should have been handled before the other 2
