You can win a Super Bowl with Nick Foles if he has a Super Bowl MVP performance leading your offense to 41 points. The team around him wasn’t that good he just had a lights out performance. Go see how often that’s happened in the history of the Super Bowl where an average QB had a game like that. The Cowboys will never have a good enough team, especially defensively where they can win a Super Bowl with an average QB. The 5 championships they’ve won were with Hall of Fame QBs. You continue to think it’s as simple as just drafting another QB and SB here we come. LOL Dalton isn’t good enough to win a championship, he’s not even good enough to win a playoff game he’s already proven that. If you want to end up like Cincinnati go with him as your starter. You’ll end up with a high draft pick where you can find another QB.

Jim Plunket did it twice as a backup QB. The dude was an ok QB, couldn't even get a starting job. The Giants did it with Jeff Hostetler. What was so great about Kaepernick or Flacco? Yet both were in the SB. Foles didn't do anything out of the ordinary. He played really well with a really good team around him. Like he usually does. I wasn't shocked that he could throw a football as good as Wentz. You don't have to be elite to win a SB.

That's the math for the 4 year deal at 35 Mil per. The longer the deal the more they can spread it out so that the cap can catch up. But 5 years won't be pretty either. We're looking at 6-8 years just to get him somewhere between 10-15%. A 4 year deal at 35M per shouldn't even be considered by Jerry.

Thank the heavens and Big Mike and Stephen as Dak will never see this contract in his career !!

Going back a year or two I used to think you were a nut. But I no longer think that. You could see it. I'll admit that now. But don't think Jerry won't make the ultimate mistake. He's been known.

The QB contract isn’t the deciding factor in teams. This argument is so stale

7 out of the 12 postseason QB’s last season were too 10 paid QB’s per average salary.

Just because you don’t win a Super Bowl, it doesn’t mean you don’t have a Super Bowl ready roster.

Obviously it does cause a restraint on roster management but we don’t chase free agents as it is and the only players on the team right now that have over a 50 percent chance of getting a big second contract is LVE if his health permits. Besides that, any player we have to let wali to compensate for Dak’s contract in future years(Gallup, Lewis, Awuzie) is replaceable if we draft well.

Yeah we have to move the bar from Super Bowl winner to Super Bowl ready to fit your argument..

Strange though that we don’t even have an outlier except for the 1 uncapped year.. The QB was also elite.

Nah Jerry is older now and Stephen is a force to consider in the FO.
They know that Dak simply can't deliver and do not underestimate the Dalton signing.
Funny how Big Mike called him upon his release from the Bengals and how it took him 2 weeks to call Dak.
Makes one wonder what Big Mike and Jerry talked about in their initial interview of 12 hours?????

Hey look, I agree. Dalton has proven he can be a good QB with a team around him. 32 is not that old for a QB and the Cowboys have the weapons. No way do I think Dak is that much better. But it's not up to you or me.

He's a better passer than Dak and smarter back there.
Yep, its a Jones decision, and I have a feeling things will be changing soonest in Big D.....

P.S. For the better....

Already signed:
LT, RT, G, LB, DE1, CB3, WR1, TE1

Rookie Deals:
WR x 2, MLB, G x 2, C, CB x2, DE, DT

All this with $31 QB counting against a consistently rising cap.

Tell me how we're crippled again?

What's even sweeter, no other high-level contracts coming down the pipe of the next what two or three years?

If mechanics arent important, then any one of us could become NFL QBs and play for less than Dak?...........as much as I'd love to play QB for the Cowboys, we'd go 0-16 with my poor mechanics.
You make no sense. You just said Dak mechanics aren’t good yet he has more wins than anyone not named Brady or Russel. Yet, you say if we played with our poor mechanics we’d be 0-16.

Jim Plunkett was the number one overall pick who got stuck on one of the worst teams ever. He was able to win a couple of Super Bowls with some talented Raiders teams that could play defense. Jeff Hoerster was an average QB who won a SB because he played for a Giants team that had a great defense and a great HC/DC. He didn’t have to do anything special just don’t screw anything up and allow the Giants great defense led by Lawrence Taylor to shut teams down. As Kaepernick his style of play through teams off when he burst onto the scene in 2012 and is another QB who benefited from having a really good defense. San Francisco had the number two ranked defense when he led them to the Super Bowl in 2012. He never threw for more than 21 TDs in a season. Go check out his career numbers. He was nothing but a flash in the pan.

Do you actually believe the Cowboys could get anywhere with a QB like that with their defense? LOL As for Joe Flacco he was a solid QB for years and had an unbelievable playoff run in 2012 when he led Baltimore to a championship. He also benefitted from a terrific defense. When’s the last time you can remember the Cowboys fielding a great team with a great defense around their QB? As for Nick Foles he played LIGHTS OUT in the SB winning SB MVP and you’re claiming he didn’t do anything special? :laugh:He played like a first ballot Hall of Famer QB in that SB. Anything less than the performance he had and Philly would have lost that game. There’s been very few real average QBs lead their teams to championships and the ones that did either played great SBs or were carried to championships with great defenses. If your blueprint for building a great team is building a great team and defense around an average QB on a low salary.....good luck!

How often were these teams that won Super Bowl’s with average QBs in contention? These QBs had one lucky season and that was it. One and done! If Philly thought Nick Foles could be what he was in the SB in 2017 week after week they would have stayed with him. You guys who keep digging up average QBs who were flash in the pans for one season or a few games and benefited from great defenses, trying to prove a point are wasting your time.

Clearly a Stephen Jones move. No one more than he recognizes the problems looming in an attempt to get dak signed. Such a thing seems less likely with each passing day. The agent will advise dak to stay away. Dak will then be forced to deal with his first major conundrum. Is he the team player he purports to be or is he just concerned about himself. The lines have been drawn in the pie

Expect Dak to sign the Tag if it's still being offered by the deadline.
From today to July 15th no other team in the NFL except maybe the Cowboys (If they don't rescind) will give Dak 30 million for the season.
Honestly, it's more a talent issue and Jerry getting that Superbowl before he kicks up his boots.
After the Bills loss, you could see the major disappointment on Jerry's face.
There is a good chance they are done with Dak just saucing it up till its time to replace him under center.
We await the day of the awakening July 15th or sooner....
