I get the age thing but I’d rather have a guy older than a guy that’s lazy and that’s hills issueYea. He's a hard one to evaluate. He's a really good example of having all the tools but not having much production. That's particularly concerning for someone of his age, and why I wanted no part of him in the first two rounds.
Gallimore turns 24 in January, Trysten Hill just turned 22 at the end of March.
Yea, that's fair and I agree. But that was part of the problem with Maliek Collins. It's poor to draft a guy for a specific role, and then play him in a very different one. That's not setting anybody up to succeed.

I know. I'm not saying that they wanted to do that, it happened out of circumstance. It's just an illustrative of the issue. Can you elaborate more ? Because Cowboys always had plans for Maliek to permanently play the 3 tech coming out of Nebraska
They never intended for him to be a 1 tech otherwise. I believe they only had to be forced to play Maliek out of position as a 1 tech that one year because
they were running out of bodies to play 1 tech. (per projected starter Stephen Paea injury and IR)
I keep saying it.
The DL is going to surprise people this year.
I still think they upgrade the 1-tech and most likely draft the future at the position next year. Gallimore and Hill are both 3-techs do the only true 1-techs on the roster is Poe and Woods plus the undrafted guys.
We could look to free agents that are still on the market we could bring in. For example, a guy like Snacks Harrison is still out there and while he isn't a huge threat as a pass rusher......I like him for run stopping and clogging up holes. In pass rush situations, Dallas could use a Gallimore or Hill (depending if he takes a step forward with the new coaching).
I think it's very possible that Hill is no longer on the team come week 1. He will have to fight for his job and will not be given a spot.
Interesting point about Hill....I was looking at numbers, and injuries aside, yeah he is gonna have to earn it.I still think they upgrade the 1-tech and most likely draft the future at the position next year. Gallimore as a 1T would be a huge waste of his talent.
Conceviably they could do that in passrush situations, but no way he should ever be eating blockers.
Great points. I would add that McCarthy and company didn't draft him. That was Rods boy and I could see them trade him to the Raiders for a player or late round pick..... seeing as Rod is there now plus Dallas and Raiders have a history of trading and has some of Hills teammates from last year including Maliek CollinsInteresting point about Hill....I was looking at numbers, and injuries aside, yeah he is gonna have to earn it.
His draft status probably gives him a certain extra look, but talk about a guy that seriously needed an NFL off season strength program....I'm guessing the world situation gave him the excuse to get even more lazy and fat.
Still hoping for something out of the kid, but if he shows up to camp thinking he has a guaranteed spot on the 55, I dont see that as the case.
Heard an interview with Mayock in which he said they want guys that love playing football, not guys that are there for a paycheck.Great points. I would add that McCarthy and company didn't draft him. I wanted Adderley over Thornhill but they were my first and second targets followed by RappHeard an interview with Mayock in which he said they want guys that love playing football, not guys that are there for a paycheck.
Sound reasoning, but if that's the case I dont see them signing Hill even if we cut him.
I'm also making the bold prediction that Marinelli "resigns" there before the season is over.
I just dont see a philosophical match with him and the brass there, and the minute he pulls something like his personal doghouse routine it's over.
I'm hoping Hill can provide some push on passing downs in a rotation type situation here (think Jimmie Jones from the 90s), but I doubt that materializes.
Blown pick is one thing. Passing on Thornhill also just stings.
Well said indeed Kitty cat -got to have that defensive leader. The one individual that will "impact this defense", is Nolan. Without good coaching, having decent players doesn't matter.
