sounds like he's "glitching" out. He can't even be average in games against good defenses, but the old excuses, the offensive line, the special teams, the defense, or whatever. oh hum

Don’t pay Dak

jerry has the upper hand, dak either signs the tag or sits, or takes what jerry gives him. it will be funny if Dak has to take jerry's offer. lmao

oh Jerry rescind the TAG and watch Dak crash land to the land of reality!

Most likely scenario is he plays on tag. If he doesn't sign, i'd rescind the tag, let him make his own deal and get the draft picks. I like the guy but I'm of the opinion he and his agent are overvaluing his worth.
If you rescind the tag, you dont get anything

You had very little to nothing to start with as Dak is a need to be carried QB.
You gain Cap dollars to pick up some defense.
Only Inept Jerry would give this young man 30 million for 1 season.
The post stated get the draft picks. You dont get any draft picks rescinding the tag

Funny but the Cowboys last 2 first round quarterbacks were free agents, Weeden and Dalton..Our last 2 starting quarterbacks were a free agent out of college and a fourth rounder..Maybe we should spend a 1st on the position one day
Dalton was a second round pick

how about this:
keep dak on the tag, and then start dalton, and if dinucci looks good in PS , he us # 2, then dak is # 3.
Then if dalton bombs, go to dinucci, if he cant handle it , looks bad etc, then go back to dak.

Might as well look at those 2, in starting role, and see what you have, if either one looks good, then maybe they dont need dak.
And either way they still have dak so they can go back to him if needed.

I would like to see dalton play as #1 and dinucci as # 2.

If Dak holds out, every game with Dalton under center will greatly increase Dak's leverage.

I get that he played college ball in Texas and looks like some of y'all's image of a QB but he's just not very good at this point.
Is that "another" gamble Dak wants to make? Wally Pipp.

Um... That isn't how it works. If you rescind the tag, he is IMMEDIATELY a FA. You get no draft picks unless you are counting the Comp pick. But we are already past the date for which Comp picks are calculated, meaning if you rescind the tag, we get NOTHING.

Where the Cowboys messed up, in my opinion, was using the EXCLUSIVE tag. If they had used the non-exclusive tag, then his agent could have shopped him around the league and found his true worth. If he signed an offer sheet from another team, we could either match or get the 2 first round picks. Again, this is IF we had applied the non-exclusive tag.

The problem with EXCLUSIVE TAG would of been that nobody would have signed him for 2 first round draft picks.... it all comes to his worth.

Saying that it may have indicated (to both JJ and France) what the Dak market was like.

The market of teams with need and Cap money over next 3 years, indicate the best fits would be.

1) Cleveland
2) Washington
3) Detroit
4) Indionapolis
5) Jacksonville

Patriots need a QB, but no money left for 2020, and 2021 despite having CAP SPACE, have alot of holes to fill.

I wonder if the market, or lack of, is playing a part in JJ's negotiation considerations.

Just curious, for the “Don’t pay Dak” crowd what’s your solution for QB. This year and for the immediate short term. Play Dak on tag? Dalton? Trade? If so who?
Depends on what your looking for. If you never want to win a SB or NFC championship game just keep Dak and it will cost you 35 mil a year and hope Wentz gets hurt so you can win the division.
This team is good enough to compete for the division with Dalton but like Dak he isn't gonna win you a NFC championship or SB.
Since the team is stacked they would be best suited to play Dalton as a stop gap while using the draft to target another QB prospect ona rookie contract. Preferably using a 1st or 2nd round pick on a fundamentally sound pocket passer. Its called reloading for another run. Dak in my opinion isn't a bad QB but his physical arm talent is bottom 3rd in the league. He does the best he can with what he has.

Put Dak on the Bengals LOL....he wouldn't last 3 games before he got sent to the bench!
Dalton got benched last season. I'm guessing you've never seen a Bengals game or know anything about them, just spouting off to trash Prescott.

Your man Prescott has been feeding off of Zeke the best offline and Coop for years now without any major success stories.
Now imagine him on the Bengals the last 4 years :muttley:....3 games at best and then the bench and then the CFL.

Whilst I like Dak and would try and sign him long term, I agree that OVERALL is this the best route to take?

Not as simple as some people seem to think about "Pay Dak", "Pay Dak market value".

How much you wanna bet Dalton gets 35m+ if he wins a playoff game with any team (us or some other future hypothetical team that takes him after FA next year)? Dak is probably going to have a better career than Dalton and, importantly, more of his career is probably ahead of him than Dalton. We got Dalton for cheap this year, but we got him for 1 year, or he would not have taken so little.

I'll take the Dalton bet. I don't think Dalton gets $35mil, even if we win a playoff win with him at QB.

More of Dak's career being ahead of him doesn't matter to *us* if he prefers to do the Kirk Cousins and leave.

Dak refused a fat contract last year on a 2mil, 1year deal.
Why wouldn't he let it roll again *this year* on a 30mil, 1 year deal?
Why wouldn't he let it roll again *next year* on a 37mil, 1 year deal?

See the pattern? The deals get better every year, making it less likely he'll take them. It's reasonable to conclude he's headed for free agency.

If we can't get a deal done this year and he ends up on the tag, trade him while we can and move on. This year is our best chance for that, as we have an experienced starting QB to take over.

Not accurate, but feel free to continue with the nonsense.

QB by committee based on situation. Position flex at its most fiscal efficient.
