Let's look at this a minute:
Does 8-8 make a team or their quarterback special?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against an Eagles team that was playing 2nd and 3rd Stringers? This was the game that defined Dak Prescott as to whether or not he could carry the team when they needed him.
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Bills?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Saints?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Bears?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Jets?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Patriots?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against the Vikings?
Did those 4900 passing yards help against any team in contention for a playoff spot?
Stats don't win Super Bowls. Players who show up when their team needs them win Super Bowls.
Dak isn't a leader. Leaders show up when the game- or the season, for that matter- is on the line.
When the Cowboys couldn't beat the Jets or the Eagles to get into the playoffs, it spoke volumes. When Dak couldn't lead the team when they needed him the most and get past even the weaker teams, it spoke volumes.
Actions speak louder than words. Dak threw the ball into the ground on 4th down.
He doesn't show up when the Cowboys need him to lead.
He simply is along for the ride when they beat up the weak teams.

Where did Dak say 8-8 establishes him as "marquee"?

Just pulling things out of you backside again? Seems you have a lot of storage space back there.

I'm certainly not one to defend Dak, but Romo had his share of 8-8 and 9-7 seasons. And I thought he was a damn good quarterback. It could have a lot to do with coaching/system in place. Supporting cast means a lot too. What is a QB supposed to do when much of the team is playing with low intensity? That's more of a coaching issue and we've seen it for the better part of the decade. But now that we do have both the supporting cast and a good coach, I certainly expect better than 8-8 or 9-7.

The difference is that Romo was always out there fighting. He never just "laid an egg" when the team needed him. He made some stupid throws and some costly interceptions, but he was still fighting.
Dak just goes along with the team.

I do think that Dak, in general, has less fighting spirit, however, the 50-pound burden weighing him down was really Garrett. Garrett had a way of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The guy was addicted to mediocrity.

I want to see how Dak does under a McCarthy offense.

I've given that some thought, too, and I think Dak will do better under McCarthy.
But I think Dak's tendency to disappear in the face of defenses that don't give up yardage easily will come back to haunt the Cowboys- even with McCarthy.

I can't speak for anyone else, and yeah I would love a fighter at QB. But that's little consolation for going 8-8. We've been so used to a Garrett led team that we forget what it's like to see a team come out with the intensity level as if their lives were on the line. Maybe a game here or there, like against the Saints defensively a few years ago. Offensively they looked flat. It was always something. I just don't know. I'm not crazy about Dak but I'm interested to see how he does under new management. If that even happens.

Your right stats do not win SB. Romo has a ton of them and his playoff success is around the same as Dak. Cowboys have the pieces to win and it falls to the staff to take all the parts and put them together to play as a team, especially in critical moments of the games. I don't remove any blame on Dak nor do I remove blame on any other player who failed to execute or made mistakes that cost the team.

It’s a team game and there were a lot of games we came out very flat. Drive killing penalties. Had some dropped passes. Some things that are out of a QBs hands. Some things were coaching problems. Coaching problems that have been coming up for 10 years.

I give this year a pass. One that was upsetting because we have some talent and every year that goes by we lose another opportunity. But I give it a pass because I believe the team gave up on JG, it was going to happen and now it’s over.

Dak is going to get paid and he will be fine and get better under MM. I have watched him flop and miss some throws. And I have watched him make game winning drives. Came back from behind in the packer playoff game only to be let down by our Defense.

Why are wins/losses attributed to one player when we fans generally consider football to be the greatest “team” sport?

I suppose, for the same reason QBs, in general, are payed so much more then other positions. If it's a team sport, you would think that pay would be much more unified, but they aren't. Even bad QBs get paid so much more then do other positions.

As always, we ignore the Rams game lol.

Was Eli Manning a better QB than Dan Marino? Any argument about making wins a QB statistic boils down to that debate, and I've never seen a good rebuttal.
