If they are adamant that it be a 5 year contract, then they need to make it clear that the starting job is now up for grabs. And that Dak can look for his new team next off-season. And wish him luck getting the same endorsement deals when he isn't starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

If they aren't willing to take that stance then give him the 4 year contract and be done with this particular circus. And move on to the next one.

Maybe JJ don’t want him, or maybe Dak don’t want to be here. Or Daks agent is greedy and screwing Dak and us.

No one offers a guy $100 million guaranteed - for more years than he's asking - if they don't want him.

Dak wants a four year deal, like Goff and Wentz, while the Cowboys want a longer one. If anyone is trying to reset the market it's the Cowboys.

I hope Dumb & Dumber have a plan B (and don't tell me it's Andy bleepin' Dalton). :muttley:

We missed our opportunity to sign him last year choosing to wait and see how he performed in 2019. Now if we wait until 2021 he’s going to be much more expensive .

At least about 7 million more just on the Franchise Tag but an extended contract next year will surpass anything we could arrive at today.

Assuming we still want Dak for years to come if we don’t sign him today it’s going to be a poor financial decision compared to next year or years ahead.

The only conclusion we can arrive at today if we don’t extend him is we aren’t sold on Dak and that message will be loud and clear.
I love Dak but even I would not have offered Dak to be the highest paid quarterback at the end of 2018. He hired France as his agent and he wants top dollar. To be honest I might even trade for Rodgers then pay Dak at 38 million on the second tag.

They better redo the plan because Dak will be gone in two years. Let's hope for more than the next Paxton Lynch or Quincy Carter. God help us.

Melodramatic much.

I didn't realize it was annoption between Paxton Lynch or Dak

I change my vote. Give me Dak and pay him $50million. I am so nervous. Please Dak whatever you want

PS what's gonna happen to Dalton?

A major potential career ending injury is a risk no doubt.

But by most of the national sport writers and local beat writers the Cowboys if they are intent on retaining Dak into the future are risking additional millions in a contract beginning next year instead of inking him this year.

If the Cowboys are still in doubt of Dak and need another year to decide then perhaps the decision has already been made?
The team worked a strategy last year with it's HC to make their decision for them.

They are using the same strategy here.

"You get what you want when we get what we need."

Why is everybody not accepting that?

We cheered that with Garrett and it lead to an improved coaching staff we are all happy about vs. the old staff.

Romo said it best..."Football is a merit-tocrocy."

Meaning basically, perform and you start, start and get paid based on your position and your contribution.

Dallas has dialed in their formula and they are staying their course.

All of us should abide by that as long as it's competitive.

Since we do not know the numbers we can not know.

Surely Mahomes and his deal recalibrated the numbers but I do not think it's going to change the Dallas offer enough to sign Dak.

This year is not the issue. Next year if under the Tag is the issue and all the years after that.

What goes against Dak is his age now. Not having won much early in his career is de-escalate DAKs overall value.

Does Dallas want to risk paying a SB winner deal later in DAK's career? The stats say a SB QB will win a Championship early in his career. Like by the 3rd or 4th yr. Like Mahomes, maybe earlier.

With Dak we are moving to his 5th yr..and with a 4 year deal..he will be here until the 9th yr of his career.

The odds decrease alot going forward that SBs are in DAK's future because the talent level is going to drop now. It has too. If the team is winning with Dak, our drafts will be less effective to replace the departing talent not to mention FA taking it's bite, too.

So to jump in with Dak on a deal that increasingly is under pressure to succeed but built to fail over time just seems ill timed with Dak.

Logic dictates within a couple of years if no SB result under Dak happens..we have to look at changing what is going on.

So Dallas must structure things to handle that.

Our past has dictated this to us before. Staubach won his first SB by his 2nd season starting. Aikman his 3rd. Both QBs had enough talent around them to win 3 more SBs but they came early in Aikman's career and Staubach in '78 was a surprise to most.

So decide what to do but choose wisely.

.....can you imagine adding a SB victory to the resume? Thats another 5-6 million on top. Dallas has the offense to make noise this year, if they play.

That fool said BOOM like he dropped some type of gem :laugh::laugh:

Garrett shared the same record over that stretch, yet he sucked :laugh::laugh:
No we would have a lot more wins over the last 10 years if JG didn’t suck. Maybe have a ring or 2...

I understand you and many others aren’t but are you saying the Cowboys aren’t? And when I say Cowboys I’m referring to those in the front office , Daddy and Son , and our coaching staff .
Yes..as in not convinced.

This whole thing is like planning a marriage.

Remember when they had to admit they made a mistake to play WR by Committee?

That to evaluate Dak he needed a clear #1 guy and Amari luckily appeared?

That helped Dak temporarily. Then 2019 came and we were a frontrunner for reaching a SB?

Dak had a good stat season but his W-L faded.

Now we have added Lamb to again address DAK's inability to raise his game enough.

So yes, this is clearly saying so far not good enough to get married but the engagement is still on.

Total compatibility and children are still hanging in the balance.

Dak needs to get it done..then we get the off spring.

Championships.

Then you get big Daddy money and a share of Daddy's business.

Daddy being Jerrah of course.

If they were sold on him, he wouldve gotten his deal. There were several times when Jerry asked the staff if they were sure hes the guy.

The Cowboys are going down a road with Dak that has never led to the QB eventually being with the team long term. Just because you want him here long term doesnt mean its likely at this point.
As of today he's playing for the cowboys. Wake me up when that changes.

"Dak will never be cheaper to sign than today" has been true every single day since they traded for Amari.
