Dak Prescott Almost agreed to new contract before deadline

The teams determine that though, not fans who just think the numbers sound too high. The market is based on what teams are willing to pay.
Yes and no.

Just because one team pays stupidly, that does not mean it resets the market.

When the salary demands are market rate and the player is the QB, it makes all the sense in the world to give in.

And what was Dallas really giving into? 4 years instead of 5? Jerry screwed up not doing that deal. Now if all this has something to do with the salary cap and possibly not playing this year, then that's about the only angle I could see where there is the slightest chance that Jerry may be outsmarting us here.
The salary offered was also market rate. So, I still don't get it.

Once again, yes and no.

The market is not what a few teams overpaid. The Goff and Wilson contracts are turning out to be really stupid, so why should teams copy that?

It does set a precedent and generally a range teams have to pay in for a particular level of talent. You can’t forget there is competition for players, and teams can’t ignore that and take the leftovers if they want a chance to win. In any case, it does still comes down to what teams are willing to pay.

The Vikings just gave Cousins $33 million a year, and Watson May get $35-40 million, so the guys getting big money aren’t just isolated things like you are suggesting. It’s how the market is trending, and teams compete for players within how the market.

Besides, who decides what’s stupid money and what isn’t. Again, it’s not the fans, it’s the teams.

Bs.

He doesn't want to be here. He wants money and that is it. Doesn't care where he plays.
The issue is he cares too much about the Dallas Cowboys and has proved it on every level growing up a Cowboys fan. Unlike those players Michael Irvin (a Cowboys fan growing up) told Jimmy Johnson about that did not care if the Cowboys win or lose because you still get a check, Dak always cared and wanted the Cowboys to win...

Negotiations involving France are always a pain in the derriere.

Yes, he can be kind of caustic in his retorts.

Because all those reports on the contract negotiations are bogus!
