i am surprised that he didn't play well...boy was i wrong about his coming here.
i liked the move at the time and thought he'd be a good player for us this season.
couldn't have been more wronger.

i am surprised because of his past credentials, game experience and considering the lack of competition he was up against in camp candidates.
Only camp report(s) i ever recalled was Thompson taking over a healthy Clinton Dix's reps on the 1st team.

Either it was one of the podcast shows or a reporter tweet was speculating that they thought the Thompson replacement
could been coaches seeing wanting to see others' work as subs in an injury situation. ..but now we know it fore sure there
can be no speculation... it is what it is.

Actually relieved Dix is out and good sign DC is actually willing to admit to an error in judgement early on and cut bait. Normally DC FO would act like he's great and keep him just out of pride and not having to answer to the media. Go get Earl and lets get a defensive unit with a mean attitude instead of a defense that just wants to play dominos in the locker room.

Problem is, they aren’t going after Earl. Nor is Wilson ready.

Phillips signed a 2 year $ 6 million contract, and Ha Ha signed a 1 year $3.75 million contract.

As for Joseph, he's been a considerable disappointment since he was drafted, so while true he signed less of a contract, it not unreasonable to think the Cowboys may have considered him a lesser player.

As for Poe, I view him differently because of the expectation. I think he is expected to be a considerable upgrade as a big bodied run stuffer, whereas I don't think people feel Dix was more than an one season minor upgrade.

....right so less than HHCD based on AAV and roughly the same guarantees, you didn't prove a point at all.
Joseph has been plagued by injuries and is now healthy and in line to start while HH was just cut.

You wanted safeties in his price range who would have been better options and I gave you them, you can take them or leave them. Idc.

From what I’m hearing they really like Donovan Wilson. D. Thompson will start the season, Wilson will Rotate in and take over. Woods/Wilson- Thompson/Robinson no E.T

I get it but Dix could not tackle to save his life so good to see they are churning to upgrade. Ok everyone is so worried about the locker room but JG is gone and sometime a locker room needs a little vinegar esp. on defense. Yes he's not the nicest guy in the room but he's smart and has been wanting to play in D for years. Bring him in and lay out the law. If he flinches, drop him at the bus station. Got to start somewhere.

Just because we sign players(Iloka, McCoy, HHCD) they are not "immediate upgrades" lol.

This free agent class, looks to be extremely underwhelming outside of the two RDEs. Which only a couple of us knew early on.

Cowboys need to figure out free agency and trades to take the next step.

I dont understand how they constantly whiff on free agents on the defensive side of the ball

Clinton-Dix was guaranteed $2.25 million as part of the deal but his release opens $1.5 million in cap space. In making the move, the Cowboys must believe Xavier Woods (groin) will be healthy for the opener but adding a safety would appear to be a need
