Dak looks nothing like Testaverde. Dak is much more mobile, he doesn't throw side arm passes like Mahomes I get that but I just don't see the comparison.

Yes Dak is mobile and what frustrates me is on obvious passing downs, especially 3rd and long, we saw Dak standing on the pocket looking nervous and making bad throws or not finding the open receiver. Why the hell don’t we roll him out in those situations? I thought for sure that would be one adjustment MCCarthy would make and am hoping he does soon. Get Dak out away from the pressure and in a position he can take off and run if need be. It’s not rocket science!

That throw Dak made to CeeDee on the fateful 4th and 3 sucked. On a short crossing pattern you have to lead the receiver. Lamb had to stop in his tracks and bend down some which made the tackle a lot easier.

Dak wasn't rushed no excuse to not execute that simple throw

Dak is going to have to run more to help bail out this O. If he is not running he is just like Vinny T. just standing back there and letting the pocket collapse on him. Sometimes you have to keep the drive alive some other way.

Not sure I totally agree with Jimmy. QBs who don't see the field well have turnovers galore. Dak isn't in that category at all. Opposite in fact.
Hence, the reason the Cowboys throw so many short come back routes. It's not because the coaches like the routes. Its because there is less for the QB to have to process.

ROFLMAO.
Dak is 9th in QBR after week 1.

He'd be 6th if the OPI wasn't called.

He led a game-typing drive that they decided to go for it and had a pass fall perfectly into Gallup's hands versus the NFL's best CB with 21 seconds left that would have at least tied game if not won it.
He was imperfect but only goofballs that didn't watch the other games are criticizing that.

Dak was better week 1 than supposed elites Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Carson Wentz and former number 1 overalls Jared Goff, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Joe Burrow.
He was the best QB in the NFCE week 1.

The offensive issue was 3rd down and gosh I wonder why? Couldn't possibly be that the RT couldn't hold up at all on 3rd down pass attempts.

People who complain about Dak frequently get dumped all into the same group. Haters.

There are actually two groups. One are the people who think he legitimately sucks. The other is the ones who thinks that he is a bus driver type QB who is going to look good in the right situation but bad when things aren't set up for him. I'm definitely in the "bus driver" category.

I expect Dak to have some monster games this year when he has time and the receivers are open. The Cowboys play much, much better with a lead. The play action opens up, the pass rush can pin back its ears, etc. I think I might make a thread on this but keeping it about Dak, I think the team can win big with him as QB. They can't do it paying him a huge percentage of the cap though, particularly with so many other overpaid guys already on the team.

It's like the offense they want to run doesn't fit their QB's strengths.

Dak doesn't fit the scheme.

He can be very solid in this scheme but where is all of the misdirection / quick passes?

Why are we not doing what the Rams/49ers/ and some of what KC is doing.

Maybe Kellen Moore won't be as dynamic as we thought he could be because all he knows is what Linehan / Garrett have taught him.

Exactly, great point.

Dak is a high level bus driver, kinda like Tanny for the Titans.

You dont pay $40 million a year for that. Doesnt mean Dak or Tanny suck, they just are not franchise QBs.

I've been saying that Dak is slow processing the field (compared to his predecessor) for a number of years now. He's not seeing those small open windows that a very good to elite QB is be able to see.

Totally agree.
AND...
It's those small window NFL passes that the elite ones make consistently throughout games. Not once every 4 or 5 games. Or twice a year.

This is WHY he is not elite because even IF he improved his ability to process the field, he is incapable of consistently making tight window throws. And to win in the playoffs, this is a mandatory requirement of the starting QB. Period.

Excellent Post by the way, lol

Go Cowboys

lots wrong with that play including being called in the first place but i like the effort. dak could have made a better throw and unlike the good throws he made to Dalton shultz (twice) and cooper on 3rd down CeeDee would have caught it. Its uncertain that he makes it even with good throw because other factors but that being said i just love how you all nitpick the **** out of our QB

i get it your salty he wants to be paid as much as he does (i am as well),youre salty he took TR place (I aint). Youre salty he isnt Patrick Mahomes but I sure dont see nearly as many Dlaw threads or Jaylon threads or even last year Zeke threads.( I love the start this year he was the best player on the offense IMO)

football is a team game and it requires the sum of all the parts to work together and its game 1 and our QB didnt perform poorly. He didnt hit the crossing route as well as he should have but he did hit alot of others 1 of which was negated by a BS penalty and a few which were dropped by our pass catchers

ROFL... it would be nice if you guys had any clue what you were talking about.

Dak has issues with short throws where he has to take something off and get it out with half motion.
His accuracy on those short throws is noticeably bad.
He has no accuracy issues on deeper throws AT ALL.
He has no issues reading the field.
He's simply been trained in this offense to take what the defense gives and protect the ball.

Lol, the diplomatic Jimmy.

"Dak is really good, but he can't read the field or adjust on the fly, he's not good in close games, and he needs everything to be exactly perfect to win."

Yeah, let's pay that guy 25% of the salary cap.

A guy who can't see the field and needs everything to be perfect gets BLOWN OUT on Sunday night.

Jimmy's wrong about what Dak is. The "can't survey the field" thing ended the second half of 2018.
