We are going very basic 4-2-5 this week. Very basic. If I blitz it is coming from the CB or S position. Gallimore and Hill start in the inside. I know Gallimore is not a 1 but it doesn’t matter because Poe and Woods are not doing the job. Gregory and Smith are starting on the outside. Anae gets next up snaps. Lawrence gets 33% of the snaps unless he shows a pulse. I am scouring the LBs in the league. Thomas and Gifford are my starters. Smith is a healthy scratch. I don’t care if I have to put Wilson at LB Smith is not suiting up. Diggs, Brown, Carr, Wilson, and Lewis are my starting secondary. Woods is deep, deep, deep on the bench. Griffen will work at the 3 on some passing downs. Worley and Crawford get a few snaps as well. I run base 85pct of the plays. I force Jones to stay in the pocket and be accurate. I pray Smith and Gregory can get home.

Simple, simple, simple.

54 is a permanent healthy scratch if the LBs show a pulse and I am looking every week for guys that can help.

Thoughts?

Woods is 10 times better than Gallimore. Gallimore hasn't had the light come on and needs more time to develop.

I wouldn't start Randy Gregory because he isn't eligible to return until week 7, but that's just me.

.

We heard the same about Schultz until injuries forced them to play him. I don't know that Gallimore will be good or not, but I do not trust the coaches have the pulse of anything when playing time decisions are made.

The most overhyped draft pick. IF Gallimore ever develops I'll be impressed. I think he's got a ways to go.

and if you play small against the giants they are going to play big with two tight ends and run you over. Then they will have short manageable third downs which will result in long drives. Some of those drives may result in points...not sure with that team though.

They have wr and a tight end that on paper should make plays. Golden Tate may be suspended this week so that will help if he is.

I imagine Garrett plays big and makes Dallas go big and defend and then has jones run a bunch and throws it to the backs.

The giants defense on the other hand while bad in the secondary looks big and fast on defense. They give twice the effort of our guys and I haven't seen them jogging around when they are losing on defense either.

I cant imagine what it will be like for these guys if they lose to this Giants team.

Schultz is a third year player who was terrible last year. He is exactly the argument for letting Gallimore develop on the normal timeline - just like Trysten Hill did this year. Hill has been our best DT and 90% of the posters here wanted to cut him after his rookie season.

So I’ve noticed a fair amount of board members are down on Gallimore. What’s the reasoning behind this? His college career? I’m not a draft guru generally as I just wait to see how they play. I’ve seen too many hyped players disappoint over the years, so I don’t get amped up or depressed about our drafts one way or the other usually. I wait for the kids to actually start playing to form opinions. However, it seemed to me the consensus on this pick amongst the experts was favorable. Why are so many of us down on him when he hasn’t even played yet?

I wont go that far, but I agree somewhat. Gallimore is a project player that has barely played football. Kind of like a rico gathers situation all over again.

I think he becomes a malik collins type for us, but I would be shocked to see it in 2020.

I think he will, but he isn't going to do it as a rookie in a year that has no offseason or preseason.

DL take time to develop and learn NFL techniques. DLaw was considered a bust here his first couple of seasons and Everson Griffen didn't start until his fifth year in the NFL. Those two guys have been to six Pro Bowls between them.

Because he has barely played American football. Great athlete but extremely raw. Im a fan of the pick, but this seems to be a pick for 2021 and on. True development project.

You want to create mega drama then bench DeMarcus Lawrence as NO WAY they bench him with his hefty contract that they are stuck with until at least thru the end of next season.

Sadly there is no fixing this defense this season and if the defense continues to perform like it has over the next 2-3 games then Dallas has to take a hard look at starting a youth movement on defense and trying to trade off any assets that they may have who they could legitimately trade: Aldon Smith, Tyrone Crawford, Chidobe Awuzie, Xavier Woods, Sean Lee, Jourdan Lewis.

Maybe I am taking my Poe hate out on Woods. You might be right. My thought process is that I am rushing 4 about 85-90 pct of the time so I need my DL to be more disruptive.

So much this. Outside of QB DL is maybe the toughest position to transition to in the nfl anymore.

Guys often have to change their bodies to adapt to the pro game and you have to actually learn advanced techniques. Rookie DLs can't count on one or two moves to consistently win battles at the line like they can in college.

when jarwin went down i thought the worst. but in retrospect, it might have been a blessing in disguise as schultz has been great. perhaps we've found our te for the future.

He was at OU 5 years. He started 38 games. I don't think Rico even played football in college.
