Has Dak Prescott shown enough for Dallas to sign long term?

9 offensive turnovers leading to 45 points for the opposing offense is not doing the Dallas defense any favors
The turnovers are bad. Agreed.

But at what point do you ask your defense to make a stop even after a turnover.

I watched several games yesterday and there were numerous times an offense turns the ball over and their defense held strong anyway.

To say this defense is Swiss cheese is an insult to the Swiss. They are not even a speed bump. They are so bad even if the offense gave up no turnovers they'd be giving up 35 points a game.

This should be obvious to anyone who understands the game

I'm not sure what games people are watching if they think that "well if the offense didn't commit turnovers we woulda won." The only thing the turnovers have done is accelerated the speed at which the other team scores because they have less distance. The Zeke fumble was at midfield. Is it really asking to much for the defense to get a stop or maybe hold them to a FG? Not bend over and take it in the shorts for a quick TD. I saw nothing from the defense yesterday that would have led me to believe that had we not had the turnovers they simply would have given up LONG scoring drives instead of short ones. The Browns averaged more 8 yards per carry for most of the game. EIGHT! That's some high school ish.. Mayfield was looking at 2nd and 2 or 3 all day. It was only his own ineptness that kept them from converting over 90% of their 3rd downs yesterday.

After last year I argued not to sign Dak long term. My main reasoning was I didn’t know if it was Dak or the talent around him.... that question has been solved. Pay that man!
This is stupid, he wont be signed until the offseason, no one is or can sign him now.
So even talking about it is stupid.
Dak hasnt shown anything great yet, you do know the team is 1-3??

If one is going to sign Dak and go with this offense, which is not necessarily a bad thing, then the offense is going to have to hold the ball for as much as possible. Consistently winning shoot outs, which seems to be the current philosophy, is not going to happen.

And what about the other teams defense and their fans?? Dont u think cleveland fans are saying wow our defense almost lost the game!
Atlanta fans, man if we only had a defense! Seattle our defense almost cost us the game, we need another legion of boom!

And if dallas scores 24 in 4th on cleveland , would u say their defense is pretty darn good??o_O
Or are u silly enough to think that our offense is so powerful no defense can stop us??

Dak and the great offense was shut out 2 quarters in a row ! What happened there?? is that on the defense too??:D
only 2 teams were held scoreless in 2 quarters this week, dallas and NYG !! not good company is it.

you have to look beyond the stats and the 4th quarter comebacks and analyze the game as a whole.
Cleveland had a much better game plan, balanced but a little run heavy. around 40 runs, and 30 passes.
Dallas was 58 passes lol and 17 runs. This is a stupid game plan when you look at state of our off line, to have to pass block
on 60 plays!
It makes no sense to pay ewok 100 mil, and then run him 12 times a game

Thats a pretty big diatribe right there.

If you think it was Dallas's game plan to pass 58 times and run 17 times yesterday, then I don't know what to tell you. Because you don't know football. Dallas had to throw because they fell way behind. And they fell way behind because the defense is incompetent. The fastest way to score points is to throw the ball, in case you didn't know.

You can scratch your head about not giving the ball to Zeke, but running up the middle for 3 yards at a time when you are behind 41-14 makes no sense. All you do is burn clock, which is exactly what Cleveland wants

I don't think it makes any difference at this point.
We're not going to win with him so why pay him?
If he walks and we get someone else, nothing is going to change.
After 25 years of futility, if you don't understand it's a cultural failure, you'll never get it.

This mindset makes no sense. So by what you're saying, we shouldn't bother having a franchise QB right now?

Yeah, the team sucks right now. Getting rid of a franchise QB isn't the solution to the problem.

This doesn't account for the potential loss of points and time of possession the turnovers cost. We can assume the defense is going to give up points. The offense needs to help them out by scoring and by taking some time to do it.

If those turnovers ended up as 14+ points for the Cowboys and less opportunity for the Browns we all might be a little happier today. Emphasis on the word "might".

Not for more Watson type money. I always thought Dak was similar to Watson and you see where that contract has the Texans. He’s simply not good enough to carry that team.

He threw for 500+ yards and 4 TD's and the team lost to the Browns. What QB on earth is good enough to "carry" the team right now? And since when was a QB meant to carry a team? Your post is illogical.

Dak isn't a franchise QB. He's above average, but he's not a franchise QB.

For 40 million you better be able to win games and play in the Mohames / Wilson tier. You better not turn the ball over so much and better be able to dictate game tempo.

Chiefs are only averaging 33 pts a game. They would be 0-4 too with this defense
