The Annual “Let’s tank for Draft Position” VS. “Let’s Win” Debate

I'd really like to go defense in round one. We should be sitting near the sweet spot for a safety or maybe a LB.

Im definitely a BPA guy, but only if its not close. For me, Im going defense top two picks. 3rd round is a good spot for WR's and RB's.

There are always lots of fans who prefer losing and a better draft position unless a Super Bowl contender.
Yes, the NFC East is currently an embarrassment with three teams under new coaches, along with lots of injuries. Still, I’ll go on record now.

Even at 6-8, 7-9, 8-8, I’d rather finish as NFC East Champions with a home field playoff game than be one of the trash teams that couldn’t win in a weak division.

In madden I won the super bowl, traded cooper and Brown for an early first. Cleared out the cap hit, and had plenty of FA money. If Jerry were a good GM he'd just do that.

Agree with these guys. So far the Cowboys have earned their Top 12 pick (or whatever), and the way they're playing tanking isn't even a discussion... it's already taking care of unintentionally.

Honestly, the young players learning HOW TO WIN and getting experience playing playoff games. Is worth more than some draft slots.

Plus the NFL isn’t like the NBA. You can find pro bowl and all pro players later in the first round all the time...... if you draft well. It’s harder of course, but it can be done.

Here's the problem with tanking it for a high draft pick. Getting even a top 5 pick IS NOT going to magically turn turn the Cowboys to the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl. The Prescott haters will say they can draft a QB but I'm not sure how many times Jerry, Stephen and McCarthy have to say that Prescott is their QB for the future so that happening is about ZERO. Then there are those that say the Cowboys have to draft defense, I agree, but that top 5 pick isn't going to turn the Cowboys into the 2012 ravens or 1985 bears defenses. Lastly if they are obvious about tanking then the league may decide that's exactly what they did and the Cowboys would lose that 1st run pick they tanked to get.
