ben DiNucci:
- only if Dalton is injured ....
- only if substanial blow outs with 5 minutes to go to hand off or dink dunk ,,,
- or a very strong maybe, final game of a tanked season

With zero rookie mini camps, no OTAs.....zero preseason,.. very limited training camp practice,.. i don't want to throw him into NFL wolves like that.
You forgot about : Once we're leading by 39 points in the fourth quarter.

I'd like to see him play, but not yet. Dalton is a much better QB, do no reason to throw DiNucci to the wolves just yet. I love his story and how he ended up w the Cowboys, though. Ran into McCarthy in a hotel elevator. DiNucci tells McCarthy how his brother was his 8th grade basketball coach, Cowboys draft him in 7th round. A year ago he's playing for James Madison University, now he's a play away from being the Cowboys starting QB. Crazy.

I would remind everyone of the chances of a 7th round draft pick at QB historically has- its about a 3% chance of ever being a starter or having a career of more than 4 years.

Not here to say the Nooch can’t be the exception. But I am here to say there’s a reason he was drafted in round 7 and that the chances of DiNucci being as good or better than Dalton at this point in his young career is crazy. Especially with a patchwork OL. A Rookie 7th round QB isn’t going to step in and light it up with this OL in front of him.

There maybe a time to give the Nooch a chance to play. But that would be when this team is completely out of contention, which may happen at some point.

No! Romo wasn’t ready for a few years. Let the guy develop. If the coaches see something that says he’s ready, fine, but let them decide. You don’t just throw a kid in the fire because you see a fire.

Fully agree. BP was smart enough to know that Romo was not ready that is why he stayed with other QB's like Vinny and Bledsoe. DiNucci is very raw and saw no action in pre season because of course we had no pre season. My feelings is this is not about what is best for a young player it is about fan frustration and many of those same fans will throw him under the bus if he comes out and fails. They will not take into consideration how green he is and unprepared especially behind a make shift OL. Fans have nothing to lose, DiNucci has everything to lose.

I am not against playing him. I would just hate to ruin him behind a poor O line a la David Carr
Wow!!! Dinucci has David Carr talent. Only in the Cowboys zone you could have someone compare a 7th round pick to the first pick in the draft. But back to the topic, this might be the only chance Dinucci can have to show that he belongs in the league. Who knows what would have happened to Dak if all those injuries did not happen to the quarterbacks in 2016 and we traded for Foles.

I bet he would disagree. This year is his best chance to get any live game action. Next year, he'll be lucky if he can get the QB2 job. FO will want someone with more experience.

I'm sure he would like to play. This is his best chance? No pre season and behind a make shift OL? Not sure why you say he will be lucky to be QB2, Cowboys brought him here because they see something in him. Again I feel BP made the right call for Romo whom I'm sure he would have gone in sooner if it where his choice but he sat for 4 years, it is the coach who has to look at a player and watch him in practice to know when he is ready to step in.

Relax. Whether Dinucci has Carr level talent is irrelevant. In fact, the fact that he probably doesn't is another reason why I am apprehensive to start him. Throwing Dinucci out there with a poor O line and poor coaching is doing him no favors.

Never saw him in college but how was he? Maybe I need to check out some videos on him?
DiNucci has more moxie in his pinky finger than Dalton.

DiNucci is Romo. We are wasting time with Dalton
Look at the Romoeqsue play follow through..DiNucci will be a Play action Ace

I am just teasing you. But let’s get back to Dinucci. This could be the best chance he ever gets to show his worth. Believe me Dinucci wants the opportunity because he could solidly his position in the league.

We may not have a choice. Dalton is going to get hit quite a bit these next couple of games.

Well now, that's different. That's putting him in because he's next man up but that's not what's being discussed in this thread. What's being discussed here is basically benching Dalton and playing DiNucci. That's different all together. BTW, what you mention above is exactly why you don't stat DiNucci now IMO.
