He's a franchise left tackle and one of the best prospect I've ever seen.

Young (only 20, same birthday as me), powerful, and plays with urgency and aggression.

He's athletic enough to play defensive line if he wanted to.

If Tyron wasn't ready to retire, I'd play Sewell at Guard until Tyron left (or missed his usual starts due to injury).

Came to say the same thing as Cnu... Sewell is a once-a-decade player. Seriously, run down the list of Top 10 drafted tackles since 2011 and see how many had better college tape than Sewell. And you can't say we don't need a tackle.

I haven't watched Parsons yet, but I need to. I hear the draftniks saying he's a once a decade type player at linebacker as well, but LB's a pretty low value position in the grand scheme of things, so you're really going to have to sell me on a top 5 pick.

You're going to love Parsons when you watch him...he can do everything.

But yea, I don't see how you pass on Sewell seeing as there isn't a Bosa/Ramsey type player in the draft. I think Smith is close to retirement and Collin's position flex makes it an easy decision IMO.

Give Sewell the Tyron treatment. Tyron played RT his rookie year, then moved over to LT.

Sewell to the Cowboys saves everyone. He takes pressure off of Tyron. Imagine the left side of the line with those monsters. Dak’s blind side will be safe for another 5 years. Sewell will also help save Zeke’s career. I believe in drafting a franchise quarterback when you get a top 5 pick but Sewell to the Cowboys would be like Zack Martin in 2014 on steroids.

I'm all for an Olineman.

I know we need defense but you take what the draft gives and if we have a shot at a franchise Left Tackle you look at it as a 10 year plan.

I know people like Micah Parsons.. I haven't watched much of him yet but if we draft top 5 he would have to be some kind of player to validate that pick.

How many transcendent LB's are actually out there?

LVE looked like he was on his way to being that his rookie year but we haven't seen that guy since.

He is some kinda player my friend. You need to watch his tape. He is a once in a decade type LB. Just like Sewell is a once in decade LT

Id see if I could sell for future 1st before taking Sewell though. Wouls be sweet to only have to trade down to 3, get future 1st's and Sewell lol

But I also understand the thought process that using ANOTHER first round pick on an OL while continually ignoring trying to get elite players on defense might not be the best option at this point. Other teams build really good OLs with far less resources poured into the OL than we have done over the last decade.

Other teams build really good OLs with far less resources poured into the OL than we have done over the last decade.

My problem is that there really arent many elite defenders in this class. Doesnt seemna bad class necessarily, but I think most of the top defenders are guys in the 12-20 range. I actually think this is a great class to getba 1st round caliber defensive player in the 2nd

I know very little about this guy, but holy cow he looks like exactly what the Cowboys need. Not only is he a blue-chip talent at a position of impending need, but he's a legit football player and road grader who is going to maul people. Sign me up.

This team can ill-afford passing up on blue-chip prospects.

There are maybe a handful of players on this team that week in/out you dont have to worry about performing at a high-level. Getting more players like that is more valuable than drafting another LVE or Diggs

Unless they can trade back and still get Parsons, they should take Sewell

I get it but it's just repeating the same thing we've done for a decade now.

Plus, there is a downside here. You take Sewell and Smith is healthy? Then what? Trade him or Collins? Move Collins back inside? Play Sewell inside? I mean it would be kind of silly to draft an OT in the first round and then he sits the bench for a year or two.

The other factor here is that no team has invested as much in terms of premium picks and money into the OL position in the last 7-8 years and gotten such crappy return on that investment. Makes you wonder if investing all those high picks and money was possibly overkill at the position.

I trade Tyron. That will net you at least a 2nd and now you have your future LT for the next decade.

I agree on your point about the investment of premium picks towards the OL, but I do not trust them to replace Tyron with a mid round pick.

You cant replace Tyron with a mid round pick unless you get very lucky. The question is. Is Sewell a better prospect then Smith was coming out of school?
