What can actually be done with Jaylon Smith?

I wouldn't cut him yet, just relegate him to a specific role. His problems aren't physical, he has terrible eyes and worse instincts. Only use him when there is no doubt what his assignment and reaction needs to be until there's a chance to financially move on.

He looks pretty lost out there...most of the time, he's trying hard but it's just not coming together.

IDK if this 2 linebacker defense is throwing him off, but clearly it's not working. We need a third LB in there to help with the run.

He's looked woefully inept this season and if he didn't have such a huge contract, it wouldn't be an issue. But for the money that he's being paid, you could get some real depth at the linebacker spot.

He’s the worst player on the field every single game and we’re still having this discussion... I’m baffled he hasn’t been cut, it’s beyond obvious now what’s the damn hold up.

It’s a shot in the dark but one team that could plausibly have some level of interest in Jaylon is the Colts.

He’s from Indiana and the coach (Eberflus) he saw early success under is coaching there.

That said, I wouldn’t think the Colts would be stupid enough to take on that contract.

Equal. And they wore the same number. Coincidence?
Hmmm....means Jaylon Smith going to come back and haunt the 'Boys in a big game....and laugh at all of us.

Worst starting linebacker in team history. I honestly can't remember anyone worse.

Cut him. Now.
This X 1000.

I don't know why people think anyone would trade for this guy. And I personally don't think it is lack of effort, lack of want to, nor his injury....he simply lacks the instincts to play the position

If you look at Sean Lee last night....the one play he made before he jogged off the field. That is a perfect example of someone where his physical limitations are the issue....he stacked, he shed, he got run over by the RB...but at LEAST....at LEAST....he was where he was supposed to be and executed the proper steps a linebacker should take when defending the run.

Jaylon is rarely where he is supposed to be....rarely locates the ball....and is easily manhandled. But there would be a little hope for him if he was at least where he was supposed to be and just lacked the physical ability to finish the play.

When you see how Crawford is being handled...one could deduce that Jaylon is not going anywhere. Which is proof that the Jones Boys are large and in charge. But if they cut Jaylon as soon as they cap hit vs the salary cap number is negligible....then we know this team is SERIOUS about winning.

He might work as a 3-4 OLB attacking of the edge, but He's totally miscast in His current role.

We also just can't sign him and watch him fall off a cliff like the rest of these guys.

Why not? It's the EXACT same thing your willing to do with a college QB that is a complete NFL unknown AND willing to see the team tank for it!!

You spew so much crap you can't keep up.

You're sucking yourself into your own fantasy vortex which is trying to make us believe you know football.

BTW - Clemson's FRESHMAN backup QB........300+ yards and a win. Maybe it's the system.

Red flag?

I judge players on their individual talent. Judging their opponents and how well their replacements do is far down my list of judging a QB.

It’s like the guys last year telling me that I shouldn’t want an unproven Joe Burrow over a proven player in Dak... Sorry.. I’m just not as scared as you guys are to make change. Especially when Dak isn’t a difference maker at his position.

For as great as you guys think he is I think we should’ve been a little better in 2019 instead of 8-8 or 1-3 to start this season.

Dak goes as the team goes.

He’s a good player but when he asks for cap crushing money I’ll pass.. I’m a Cowboy fan 1st.

I know there is a lot of Smith talk but I would love to get your serious take on what can actually be done with him. He was one of the worst players on the field again last night. The Giants game was the only good one he has had dating back to mid season last year. I don’t think he is limited physically. Personally I think he prefers to avoid direct contact, shows poor effort and clearly does little work in the film room.

If you were GM:

1. Would you cut him, trade him, bench him?
2. If you trade him what do you seriously think his trade value is?

I would trade him. I think someone would try to fix him. I think he gets you a 5 or a 6.

Thanks for your views.
I would get him some good DTs to help protect him and give him room to play.

choose to ignore it.

I think it is that. They want him to be a success story SO BAD, they are willing to ignore his ineptitude. No end in sight right now.. I don't see how there is anyone left that doesn't know he's a really bad player.

Where in the blue hell did I mention Dak?

Don't spin this. I understand it's all you have left, excluding your lie about Dak wanting "cap crushing" money. Spare me.

You're not a Cowboy can first. You've proven that time and time again.

You're a YOU first........

So, you're saying that his "clear eye view" needs to be directed toward the film room on a regular basis, eh?

I don’t Pom Pom every move Jerry Jones makes and guys like you get upset when I don’t.

Sorry if I’m not as accepting of the lack of results that you are and willing to keep paying guys who provided it.

You want to be average then keep investing in this average product.

With that contract, we wouldn't get a 7th round pick for gimpy Jaylon!

Stop.

Just answer the question, for once, and STOP spinning and straight up lying.

Dig deep. You can do it.

YOU made this about Dak. Not me. Simple question as to your integrity.
