Yep I'm in the same boat here. I feel like I just bought a new TV haha. But I definitely want the most out of these consoles. I think I'm grabbing this bad boy...

That is a really nice looking TV. Luckily my wife and I have our "own" money (lessons learned from previous marriages) because she would freak if she knew I spent $500 on a console and then another $1,400 for the TV; especially when I would probably only play an hour or two a week. However; back in the day I would spend that on a high end PC and not blink an eye.

You likely want an HDMI 2.1 TV.

I got both as well.

I planned on taking off work the next couple days but Walmart refuses to confirm my order.

I've never played a souls game so I don't know what im in for but it looked too good not to buy and I want to see some graphics really flex on the next gen console.

I got COD coming on Friday too lol.. So i'm really hoping to make this weekend about Video games.

That new Assassins Creed is looking unbelievable but I want to play Spiderman, Souls, and God Of War first. It may take me until the Summer to finish those 3.

I've never really been into single player games but im forcing it on myself to start the new console. I may quit and be back to COD/Sports games/Rocket League quick tho.

Demon Souls/Dark Souls is a different type of difficulty that will likely initially turn most off tbh if they're thinking Assassins Creed or Witcher level type of difficulty.

You will die, and then try something different, then die again. Where this is much better with the PS5, as there should little to no loading time to get right back at it. I can tell you probably the most frustrating thing is almost beating a boss and dying , then only to look at a loading screen for 60 seconds before having to do it all over.

Go in humble, die a plenty, and you start to learn as you go. Even small enemies have a pattern you must respect, but these types of games have also been the most rewarding since I've started playing them about 5-6 years ago.

So try not to let the initial masochistic vibes throw you (that's what I thought when I first played Bloodborne; who WANTS this?? difficulty). Bloodborne is on PS plus for PS5 too if you want to see the last gen staple for these types of games. My fave of the ps4 personally.

I used to have newer employees come in asking if I knew how to fix their 360 that suddenly stopped working. I would say sure, go into their office, see the red ring and just disconnect the thing and give them a new one. We had a graveyard of red ring of death victims.

Office Space is a top 3 all-time movie for me and a lot of it does apply to my work experience. People who never worked in an office just don't get it but it's hilarious.

One of the things I was doing a few weeks back was reading some XB1 reviews of one of our games. Microsoft will automatically translate it (badly) if it's in a foreign language. I can't remember what language it was but the 1-star review translated to roughly "You ruin game life with application. You animal dung for all of time." I haven't responded but I want to say, "Dear X, I'm so sorry we gave you animal dung for all of time. Our intent was to deliver animal dung for only the present. What did you think of the graphics?"

Nice, that's pretty sharp looking, what games you going to start out with? Some nice choices depending on your tastes; RE7, Star Wars Jedi Order, The Outer Worlds ( I just played this and was a good game), Doom Eternal. I was hesitant they would allow these good selling AAA titles to be on there so early tbh but they're proving me wrong on the game pass; they're making this legitimate.

Sea if Thieves, Jedi Order for now. Maybe the new cod.

Twice today I had the PS5 in my cart only to have it yanked away. This morning I tried Best Buy and it was in my cart but just as fast as it was in there it was gone. I tried Walmart, got as far as the payment and "poof" it was gone.
For fun I went to Ebay and couldn't believe the prices they were asking. Some were asking 3-4 times the retail price. I have no problems with people doing that. I feel sorry for the people who feel like that have to have it right away and will spend that kind of money for a gaming system.

Same boat Jammer, I was going to complain and then saw Catch's post; you bought it, you should have it today (that's crap on their part). Had it in Walmart too at the 12:00 sale, in the cart, hit checkout, internal error and then told it was sold out. This was probably all within 15 seconds cus have my cc saved on there/delivery address, etc. 15 seconds..forget this lol..where's my Danny Glover gif

Is the difference noticeable?
The new consoles support both, right?
From what i understand 2.1 supports higher resolutions, 8K a better HDR.
Am i missing anything?
And i presume most console gamers are playing at regular HD or 4K?

I have the same basic understanding as you. You want the 2.1..

Also, I found out HDMI cables aren’t even the best anymore.. You want DVI cables or display port cables.


The consensus I see though is to not go out and buy a tv or monitor right now and just wait a year until there is more products.

I think Sony has an optimal Tv but it’s like 55 inches.

Once I switched to a monitor I don’t ever really want to go back to a tv.

And yes DVI and Display Port connections can be better for gaming with a monitor but as far as i know{?} TVs only have HDMI 1.4, 2.0 or 2.1 connections. My LG 32 inch 4K monitor has HDMI and Display Port but if want to enable HDMI Ultra Deep color enabled i have to use an HDMI cable not Display Port.

I struck out again from Walmart. As soon as my watch said 1400 (Central) I clicked add to my cart. Got error about 10 seconds in. Said try again. Another error. Finally said they were sold out. My watch is synced to the atomic clock so it's as accurate as possible. Not sure how it determines who gets the PS5 and who doesn't.
