I would have been leaning more toward drafting a QB, if I hadn't seen how incredibly inept this offense got without Dak. He seems to cover up some warts. Is it a coincidence? Maybe, but he's definitely good enough to win a SB, with the right team and coaches, IMO.

Exactly. Sure he's no Tom Brady, and if we could guarantee a Tom Brady I would drop Dak in a heartbeat. But a team has to be careful and not fall into thinking that a Dak Prescott can be found on the bottom shelf of any neighborhood Walmart. A team can do more harm than good with that thinking.

If we end up with the first pick in the draft, which I doubt, and the team decides to take a shot on Lawrence, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I personally am not as sold on Lawrence as most are, but my opinion is certainly not infallible, and I can understand if that's what the team chooses. But the Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers, Brees type really doesn't show up very often, so a team better think hard before making a change, and make sure the gamble is reasonable. With the first pick it would be hard to argue otherwise, but many fans wanted a change well before the possibility of the 1st pick was even part of the discussion.

I agree, he does need a lot of help around him, but most QBs do. I don't think any QB is gonna come in and light up the scoreboard with an inept O-line and inferior receivers, especially with inconsistent play calling. There may be one or two QBs who could have won a few more games than Dak did, but there's no guarantee of that, and there certainly is no guarantee someone who hasn't played in the NFL yet could do it.

I'd almost be willing to franchise tag Dak again, just so we can maximize the value of our pick. Either we get a great deal or we pick a QB and try to trade one of them for max value.

The key to me is that quarterbacks draw more of a premium than any other pick. I'm not saying that we should part ways with Prescott (there's a good chance that the quarterback we take won't turn out to be as good, especially right off the bat) but we need at least the threat of us taking a QB to be there. And if no one is willing to pay a premium, someone eventually will be if we take one of those two.
