Jerry has started thinking about how much cheaper a rookie QB will cost him and how many Lawrence jerseys he can sell. I am glad they he realizes how Dak’s stats are accumulated and if Jerry knows it, the entire organization knows it, from MM on down. There may be hope for this team after all.

Oh thank goodness they are aware of that and not delusional like some of the Zoners here.

Hopefully. You know what too? How has his recent signings panned out as of late? Is he getting the return for his buck? We can say Tank is still a good player. But worth that contract? Not a chance. Miles Garrett over in Cleveland is living up to his contract. Jerry is probably having second thoughts.

The problem with dak is his performance ( other than some empty stats in many games) , is actually regressing from his initial years. Brees and Manning , kept ascending . This is the worry with Dak . Even when the OL and Zeke were humming , we still lost way too many on his watch . There is something in his game that is inconsistent.
Inconsistency has been Dak’s biggest problem since college. He is usually very consistent in not playing well until the 4th quarter and then really racking up meaningless stats that impresses his supporters.

Carrying the team is a misused myth. And if you need one of 53 to "carry" the rest, you suck anyway.
I'm cool with that answer. Unless you are a Peyton Manning, Aaron Rogers type I agree it is pretty much unheard of to truly carry the team.

The first "cracks' are starting to appear on the Dak-Mafia wall.
By the Spring the wall will be totally demolished!!

You may have a point here but I think you might be talking about the wrong wall Pap. No, I think Dak has done enough in this League to get a nice deal. It may not be the one he wants, may not be with the Cowboys even but, he will get a deal. I feel like that's a given.

And Dak is demanding around the same amount as Mahomes And Dak is not as talented as Mahomes. Not even close.
Where in the world are you getting that Dak is demanding a 10 year, $450 million dollar deal? Dak didn't even want a 5 year deal, and there is no evidence he was asking for anything in the ballpark of $45 million/year. I don't know there was even evidence he was asking for $35 million a year. The reports were mostly something in the range of Wentz and Goff, or maybe slightly higher.

You're making things up as you go.

This could mean he wants to be a player in the draft for a new QB.

Isn’t it great to have an owner/ GM who spills his guts in the media. Lol

Stats are just part of a reference to identify a player's talent. And I have never gotten caught up in meaningless stats. I just called you out on that. My most important stat is determining a QB's worth is Ws and Ls.
Wins and losses are a team stat. You're not calling anyone out. Take a knee.

It's still debatable but that's just my opinion. There are SO MANY factors that have to line up. On occasion, the very best of the best certainly can be the largest factor in a game or a handful, but I just have a hard time with the general assumption a player carries the entire team. There's just so much that goes into winning a game.

I'm not blasting him for not winning. I'm blasting him for looking like crap because Burrow has that same bad team and it doesn't nearly as bad.
I agree, i would take Burrow over Dalton every day. And yes Dalton had an atrocious year in 2019. Judging him solely on a poor season is a mistake. With a rookie head coach, an oline possibly worse than the Cowboys this season, no AJ Green, no John Ross after week 4, no Jonah Williams, and no Tee Higgins Burrow has a much better situation than Dalton had a year a go.

As mentioned earlier in this thread Andy is an average QB at best, and if not surrounded by great players will play well below average. He is not the guy to carry a team on his back. he is a bus driver. Dak is a far superior player, however if you cant improve the rest of your roster the QB debate is a moot point. It really just depends on if we want to win 5 games without Dak, or 8 games with him.

Hey. Is Mr. “there will be no drop off with Dalton” still going around and pretending like he has a genius mind when it comes to QB’s in the NFL?

Just curious

I don't honestly know who that is but to this point, there has been no drop off what so ever. We weren't winning when Dak was starting. We aren't winning, thus far with Dalton and we haven't won with any of the other guys. We are steady at flat line thus far.

Well, now Dak and his reps are going to be even more dug in to their salary demands. I really do expect just another tag year for 2021 and then do a sign-and-trade that next off season. Pride is an amazing and scary thing

I doubt there will be a sign and trade in 2022. 2021, I believe, is the last tag year so Dak would be an Unrestricted Free Agent in 22. Why would he sign anything when he can just hit the market and drive the price with his representation, as opposed to allowing the team to negotiate his contract by signing a deal with them?

Not true. Manning's QBR and PR were declining in his 4th and 5th seasons, and he was throwing a boatload of INT's. Brees regressed in his 5th season.

Even so, is Dak's performance regressing, or is the team's performance regressing? It isn't automatically the same thing.

By any measure other than team wins Dak was performing at an extremely high level when he got hurt. His QBR and PR were high, and he was the primary reason the team was competitive despite an awful defense. The only problem with the offense turnovers - mostly fumbles early in the game.

The culprit on the team failure was a defense giving up an average of 36 points per game in the games Dak played in. Manning and Brees would also find it a bit difficult to overcome that.
