Lamb is a legit #1 from his rookie year. Would allow us to move on from one or both of Cooper and Gallup in 2022. Incredible value.

You gotta look at more than 1 year to evaluate a draft pick.
If we move on from Cooper then it’s a much better pick.

Otherwise it’s a luxury pick with sonmany weaknesses on defense with a #1 offense. A defense that cost us again .

Yes, when it becomes personal. It’s about intent.

Making general sarcastic comments is fine but when they’re directed at someone to discredit them personally it’s against the rules.
There's a linda ronstadt song somewhere in that post.

Will we use our 1st round pick this year on a QB that we don’t need unless we’re letting Dak walk.

I’m going to assume you’ve given up on the discussion resorting to such. I’m not wasting time with it. Internet BS that doesn’t interest me.

Lamb was the right pick in last year's scenario. There's now way Lamb should have been there and had he not been, the Cowboys would have gone K'Lavon Chaisson or Trevon Diggs, who they ended up getting 34 picks later (not a great read of the draft Cowboys).

That concept (too good an offensive player to pass up) could present itself again if Kyle Pitts is the by far BPA at our pick, and we can't get good value in a trade down (the Jones's are routinely beat in draft day trades).

I want defense badly but if my choices are the 3rd best CB, 2nd best LB, or a ton of uncertainty in a DT or DE, give me the game changing Pitts.

I’d rather them take lamb than klavon chaisson who is looking like another taco.

I would have loved a difference maker on defense, but sometimes you’ve gotta just make sure you hit on your pick, and the cowboys did.

I totally wanted dline. DTs. There just wasn't one there that I wanted when we were up. But Lamb was just too much value to pass up on, and gives us the option to move on from Cooper from 2022 on.

This year's draft looks worse to me. If we don't take a QB, I'm not seeing much to be interested in early on.

It would be nice to know his intentions ere the draft. Signing him will continue to be problematic.

I can forgive them for Lamb, but it's not this one draft that's the problem. We keep doing it, leading to severe weaknesses that show up in games such as the Rams playoff games w/ their 200+ yds rushing against us. That game clearly showed a terrible drafting strategy. I've heard all the talk about our scheme being bad in that game and I'm sure it's true. However, the point remains that if we have, say, Brockers and Jarron Reed in the middle, that rushing game against us doesn't happen.

Any DTs for this year? I went looking at this year's draft, and didn't see much of anything interesting early on. Maybe one DE.

So, do you still sign Dak? That’s what Jimmy thinks too.
I offer Dak the same contract he's already been offered. I think it was around 33 mil. If he turns it down and refuses to talk again, I simply franchise tag him, and ask him if we should entertain trade offers, or if he's going to be willing to negotiate this time and sign for a price that leaves us able to build a team. His answer determines everything.

Agreed. And if he’s willing to agree do we still use 1st pick on a QB who will sit .

It's always Compared to What?

Lamb gives us options to not spend on Gallup and/or Cooper.

They might have signed Gallup to a contract in 2022. I think that's now been foreclosed.

They may or may not move on from Cooper in 2022. I'm guessing not. But with Lamb, we'll we able to move on from Cooper whenever we want post 2022.

They spend more than I like on WRs. It would be a very big change in philosophy to dump Cooper in 2022. I doubt they do it. But I'll be very happy we aren't signing Gallup to a new contract.
