News: Zeke on talk of Pollard being a starter

My first time reading/seeing the entire interview rather than a few words in a tweet....... a little bit of a different perspective.

With Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott missing the Week 15 win over the 49ers due to a calf injury and given that his replacement, Tony Pollard, played very well, chatter regarding Pollard’s ascension made its way into Elliott’s midweek press conference.

On Wednesday, Elliott initially was asked to respond to those who believe Pollard should be the starter.

“I don’t really pay much attention to it,” Elliott told reporters. “I don’t really know what to say to it. Tony is a great back though. Tony is a great back. As you saw this weekend he’s special, can do some great things and I mean shoot, he’s a good back.”

Pollard had 69 yards rushing, another 63 yards receiving, and two total touchdowns in the victory over San Francisco.

Pollard also made plays in the passing game, though. Zeke doesn't really give you that.

It's baffling.

Zeke has had a rough year...like most of the team and especially QB's and O-line. If anyone is to mostly blame...a staff that doesn't know what to do with a decimated O-line and very talented RB duo.

No true fan here hates Pollard.. they just don't believe he is a starting caliber RB1. However the same cannot be said of those who hate Zeke.. Those people exhibit an irrational hatred for a man they likely have never met.

I haven't seen anyone who hates Pollard and I would go far enough to say he could be an RB1. I just don't think he would hold up over the long term and I also think the claims he is better than Zeke are absurd.

Having the nice game last week got their attention.. Now he knows what it feels like to be Zeke and never be able to go anywhere between the white lines without two defenders following you..

In the last two weeks Pollard has 20 carries for 41 yards, plus a 40 yard run that was helped by poor tackling. And from that fans here were claiming he was better than Zeke.
