Jaylon Smith 3rd in tackles among all linebackers in NFL

IMO its mostly scheme issues compounded by Jaylon being way too inconsistent because he is gambling too much. I think with a NT up front and a better scheme (or at least these players being comfortable in the current one) Jaylon will look like he did earlier in his career.

Then all the "Jaylon sucks and can't start for any NFL team" posts will go to the way of the "DLaw sucks because he got paid and quit playing" threads from early this season.

Awww, your whole world must be spinning because daddy xwalker had to educate you on the stupidity of leaning on tackle totals.

Your simpleton theory “Buh, it’s gotta be the scheme” is bunk. Jaylon struggled under Maranelli’s scheme last year. But go ahead and post his tackles total from 2019 you dunce.

I think Jaylon gets credit for being first man to the doggy pile, but I think about 100.4% of the time it's the second man in that actually gets his man down, lol...

I understand but I don't see any linebackers on this team playing much better if at all than Jaylon. Others have had their chances. He'd never get benched of course but its not like the guys around him are any better.

Agreed, especially Lee, a shadow of his former self. LVE seems to me to be tentative about his neck, haven't seen him really hit anybody all year, though I've not been able to see several games due to scheduling conflicts with the Saints. The other linebackers are backups for the most part, though Gifford was hurt, jury still out on him.

Can't have All Pros at every position, if Smith can be a really good player with a better supporting cast around him then I'd keep him around...

Tackle totals and passing yards are really a litmus test for basic intelligence.

Both of these stats are devoid of any context.

Tackles are not even an official NFL stat:

If you think lofty tackle totals = great defensive player or that a high amount of passing yards = stellar QB play.......you are a MORON.

We would be so lucky if we had some of the forum geniuses here running the teams of our rivals.

They’d simply hit sort on the tackle leaders and throw cash at the guy with the most tackles, lol.

I know. I remember a month or 2 back you having to explain context in relation to stats and tackle numbers(and how tackle numbers are obtained as well) to another Jaylon Smith fan boy.

I think it was you whom I remember saying an all time classic one liner "I think you need someone beside you to explain to you what you're watching" or something close to that.

I hee hawed a great deal over that one bro, lol.

That's exactly what my eyes have been viewing all year.....poor interior line play reflects on LBs, including LVE and Coach.

Good linebackers shoot the gaps and get stops at the line of scrimmage or for a loss.

Coach? LOL Yah ok.

Horrible interior lineman, bad linebackers, bad safeties, what is the coach supposed to do?

you did just say "bad linebackers"....Coach is SLee...he is the leader and "the coach" on the field and sidelines with his experience, for Jaylon and LVE...right? And thanks for acknowledging interior line has a play in this too, but gap control and discipline is next line of defense, and on the LBs, once the line is gashed on the run plays.

Whole defense sucks mostly. Gregory has really made a difference and Diggs and Wilson are nice new additions.
