I dont think it's about Moore himself as opposed to the situation feeling similar to the one of Garrett...which people arent going to line up to repeat.

Some on here have it nailed, and I dont buy for a second that keeping Moore wasnt a prerequisite for MM. Jerry can say he asked for him all he likes, but it's fairly clear now that MM simply told Jerry what he wanted to hear.

The MM/Moore combo never made a whole lot of sense to me otherwise.
It made sense being that the Cowboys had a great offense to begin with. So it made no sense for there to be turnover. And quite frankly I have no issue with it because Moore seems to be better at his job than Mike McCarthy is to this point.

In regards to Garrett....the issue was sticking with him too long.

It’s a luxury to have a young football mind next to your franchise QB and I’m glad to is organization feels the same way.

We need to save this energy for when Nolan comes back because that’s looking like to be the case.

Because his contract was up?
Was that why?

How many other NFL assistant deals are up after the season?

How many signed an extension yesterday?

For all we know the extension was the reason he didnt take the Boise job, which we have seen from Jerry before...and makes this something different.

The only advantage to the team is it prevents him from making a lateral move, which he would be stupid to attempt anyway.

This smells of Jerry opening the checkbook to keep him around as HC in waiting....which I dont particularly want to see.

My opinion, hence the comment.

Now what happens if an NFL team comes with interest on Kellen Moore?

Kellen was made OC after one year of coaching experience lol, and that doesnt happen anywhere but dallas.
He doesnt understand or value the run game, he wants to pass pass pass.
His run blocking schemes are awful, and the run stats are always ignored, people just look at passing stats.
Dallas had the # 1 offense at first of year, but were 1-3 and should have been 0-4 but people just ignore that and want to talk about the 500 yds passing.
Blame has been put on elliot and the OL, but to me it is more on kellen.
He should be passing game coordinator, not OC.

your argument isn’t supported by stays tho. He had the number 1 offense his first year. 12 this year without dak. The slow start was a team thing not on just Kellen, in fact of the 2 coordinators much more to do with Nolan. The defense was historically bad.

The cowboys need to actually pivot from being a Zeke run team identity. That worked when we had a mauling attacking in his prime Zeke. It doesn’t now it’s antiquated now.

great signing, and good news on the Dak front, Have no doubt Dak being here for the future played a role.

I look at it this way, what has he learned this season that can be of value down the road?

He's had to make changes on the fly and had an offense north of 35ppg and was 1-3 when he lost his starting QB and then went through 3 more.

His OL began falling apart and it was plug and play and not many offenses do well replacing both OT's.

Then the team is spiraling and he gets to see who wants to play and who wants to win. Three game win streak with a backup QB and makeshift OL and a challenged defense.

Kellen Moore could never get comfortable this season and the fact he didn't succumb to the adversity speaks volumes about his headiness and leadership of his offense. This in only his second full season as an OC. His future looks bright and why not here?

Teams can offer him a higher position (HC or assistant HC/OC) but they might need Dallas’ approval to interview him.
Yep and that's not likely to happen now. The man just tuned down what most thought was his dream job to stay the OC and he's only 32, he knows opportunities will not be in short supply in the future.

It is amusing to watch the negatives fly here when people who are in the know and it is their job to hire coaches think so much more highly of his talent.

Too many blame him for this season when they might consider how much worse it could have been with the QB and OL challenges.

I think McCarthy will be good for Kellen, and vise versa

I’m not sure if a college can interview him without permission or if technically Boise can still offer him their position. It doesn’t much matter, though, because Moore apparently wants to stay and that seems to me the best decision for him.

I have no problem with Moore himself at all.

I do think this it magnifies what Jerry was pulling in the first place, which I don't much care for. I think it undermines the current HC.

The Blind Man knew where this was going....Jerry has upgraded to the new HC in Training Program. Congrats to Kellen. Jax, NYJets, ATL, Cincy, Texans, and Det, take notes.

Another genius move by our loser GM. Just like Jerry was the only person in the NFL that knew Garrett was a great head coach, now Jerry is the only person in the NFL that knows KM is a budding offensive genius and future head coach. Thanks, Jerry. Great move for another 25 losing years.
Look Boise turned him down Im was ok either way him leaving or staying, jerry just making KM feel more secure and im bet MM signed off on it.KM a very good OC and is developing..no need to hate on the guy..

he can easily be fired no matter the del., happens all the time..

so get passed all the hate..

seems lie any coach or player gets a big deal the hate train posts start..

KM while hes still got ways to go to be great has been good, he has very limited offense rising in the rankings since dak went down, that tough adjustment especially with the defense giving up 30 most games..

I say chill give the guy shot..if he left i was cool but he snot here , let him continue to develop..

yup.

he did.

and Jerry hired everyone of them.

unfortunately ... (Big Mike talked Jerry into hiring Nolan)

but we are not Seattle. The HC in Dallas isn’t the GM.

this is why KMoore stayed. (And Philbin isn’t the OC)

Of course Jerry as owner and Stephen, Vice-president of Personnel did. But they were picked picked by McCarthy. I didn't state that McCarthy paid his coaching staff or executed contracts. McCarthy overall got what staff he wanted. These things were likely agreed upon before McCarthy signed on the dotted line.
