INDY just stuffed BUFF's 3rd and 1 attempt, and is now on a long drive and inside the 5. You absolutely MUST be able to stop teams on 3rd down, and it starts w/ being dominant up front. If you don't have quality DT's, it just doesn't matter all that much what else you have on D.

Depending on what you think of Gallimore and Hill at 3tech. I personally like Gallimore but I think Hill is a bum. With the 3 picks in the middle rounds we should be able to get a quality fat boy at 1tech.

I never get the hype around the DEs. While it’s flashy, get me that interior push any time. That creates more sacks anyways, forcing the QBs to move laterally. That’s why Brees often gets disrupted in the playoffs. He’s so short, so any team that can get even a slight push forces him out.

Don't get me wrong, I expect BUFF to win this game as they are more talented overall. However, the point remains that their Dfront is a huge reason why this game is close.

CB's only win super bowls if they have the upfront disruption to make that possible.

It really is bizarre. But I think when you field statistically our run defense, it’s almost impossible to ignore. The 2 guys you plantned on starting are no longer on this team. You never want to draft for need but we’ve put ourselves in that position to a certain degree.

They are both 3 techs. I've never liked Hill, but he did start showing he might be able to contribute. I'm fine w/ him as a rotational type.
I was majorly heartened when McC showed he valued the 1 tech. No, Poe didn't work out, but it was a sign that it might finally be fixed.

They were just stopgaps anyway. However, it hopefully shows that we'll address it in the future.

Yup. My buds and I have discussed just that about Brees. I think it's also true about Rodgers to a point.

It's something I've been thinking about with the draft coming up. Aaron Donald was a 13 overall pick. I'd take him over anyone picked ahead of him.
Jerry and a pile of other NFL guys have this idea that all DT's must be 6-5 to be effective. One of the dumbest ideas every bought into by NFL level people.

Well they make the edge guys and the linebackers better.

Can't see why to place a value on that position.

Edit.....drafting a guy like Ed Oliver in round one isn't in line with the glitz and jersey sales that ownership wants.

Think I'm wrong? Which owner have you ever seen talk to a first round pick about what number they ought to wear??

And we all sit and wonder why we can't win.

Jerry doesn't think or know anything about football.

He becomes infatuated when people talk to him in football terms that he can't understand.

If his buzz is right, he will even hire you as head coach.
