Cowboys need to resign Dak before Baker and Josh Allen reset the market

Of course not.

But you saw the Browns decide to play deep cover when up 41-14 against Dallas. I hate that defensive approach, and Dak went off for 300 yards in the fourth quarter if I recall.

Dak and the offense were awful that day, but wow, their stats were amazing.
and I saw them change when the cowboys started to make a comeback....the facts don't change, in all of those games we were within one score with three minutes to go. the team was competitive. lets not forget the defense gave up 300 yards rushing and couldn't make a stop....garrett toyed with the RT all day..... ....I cant recall any team winning when their defense gives up that much rushing yards. the defense was consistently giving up 150 yards rushing......anyone can tell you when you rush for that much you have a great great chance of winning...

Where is the examples of paying QBs winning championships? Especially non elite QBs.

Paying mediocre QBs is an excellent strategy in Madden.. Unfortunately in the real world QBs on rookie deals and Elite vets taking pay cuts or having low cap % hits our winning titles.

Go run and find me an outlier so you can validate paying Dak then complain about the team around him as well when we become mediocre.
Im talking about the alternative is not easy to accomplish. JAX rn is nkw gonna get Trevor. For them to get to that point, they went through Blaine Gabbert, Bortles, Nick Foles trade, started a rookie last year. Multiple head coaches.

so now you are spinning trying to qualify...can I do the same for Dalton? and admitedly he didn't have smith....and is the RG, I mean the frigging RG the difference between an great offense and an average offense? if that's the case, then is RG the most important position on the offense? if yes, then shouldn't every team just draft the best RG in the draft year in year out and get to some championships.

I mean seriously you make the RG spot as if its the difference between total collapse and greatness....its the freaking RG spot!!!! it matters more to the running game than the passing game, given Tackles and pass rushers they play against are the most important spot.

with that said, sinc eyou talked about seahawks, giants and disqualified them, is it fair to disqualify all of Dalton's wins since he played against teams with 4 wins, playing their back up QBs and he struggled in those needing 9 defensive turnovers to win....and he choked yet again in a must win game....
Having potential Hall of Famers like Smith and Martin makes a big difference to any offensive line. Didn't Martin move over to tackle and greatly improve the line albeit for one game until he got injured again? Dalton played well in that game and then...yep back to the o line struggling.

I have never viewed Dalton as the long term solution. If we can keep him on a reasonable deal then draft a rookie to start off holding a clip board then taking over from Dalton after 8-10 games.

We already have a losing culture, and new head coaches don't like to inherit the previous regimes problems either. Dak is a good QB but you can't rebuild the defense with him making 20-25% of the salary cap. I'd rather do what Tampa did this year and bring in a successful QB at the end of their career and take a shot. Worked for Denver.
Agree. Which is why we've had 2 straight offensive minded head coaches. Jerry and co. want someone to win with an expensive QB. A defensive minded HC would point out its not easy to accomplish.

Actually, the team with better statistics loses just as frequently, if not more so, than they win.

Really? I'd have to see a comparison, not sure even then it would show a definitive answer.

What statistics? Passing yards? Rushing yards? Yards per catch? Per run? Time of possession? Completion percentage? Passer rating?

Really you can make an argument either way, the numbers can be tweaked to fit whichever view you take.

One of those "you can't prove me wrong so I'm right, or at least could be right" arguments....

The key is building the team.

It's not the QB.. There is about 20 QB's that get similar results in this league and go as the team go.

That is why a QB like Andy Dalton can come in and get Dak Prescott type of results for the team.

If you want to pay the QB.. Then fine.. Be like the Vikings, pay your Kirk Cousins type, and enjoy being mediocre.

I'd rather team build than be stuck in mediocrity.

I'm also not scared to draft a QB. Especially since the league is running more college concepts making it easier for guys to transition.

Bortles wasn't the reason they didn't progress when they had a good team. He's obviously bang average at best but he was ok in the play offs. Play calling and facing the Patriots were the main issues imo.

Cousins is a great example really. Always puts up impressive stats every season yet...we all know the Vikings will never win a Superbowl with him being paid over $30 million at QB.

Yes Prescott had a superior offensive line.
In the 4 games he played in from memory he had Zack Martin for all of them and Smith for at least a couple. Seahawks and Giants didn't exactly have a scary defense and the Falcons had Prescott all over the place until they lost their pass rush.
Keep spewing out the yards it's hilarious! Empty calories.
Which means backup level players at 3-4 of the O-Line positions, with undrafted players handling the duties much of the time, so it's not exactly as if the Cowboys O-Line was in good shape.

As for the Seahawks not being scary, that may be true, but Dak and the Cowboys scored 31 against that defense and the Giants only scored 17.

As for the Giants defense not being scary, maybe "scary" isn't the right word, but it held opposing teams to a moderate 22.3 ppg (9th best in the NFL), whereas while Dak was playing QB the Cowboy defense was giving up 36 ppg. The Giants only gave up scores of 30+ points twice all season, and the Cowboys defense gave up scores of 30+ points in 4 of the 5 games Dak played.

I'm fine if people wanna whine about not wanting to re-sign Dak till the cows come home. The chances he doesn't stay with the Cowboys are extremely remote. If that bothers you you may want to look into a new team.. Maybe whatever team drafts Lawrence or Fields or Wilson or Lantz or Trask or whomever your favorite "next big thing" QB is. That way you won't have to sit around complaining about the Cowboys all day every day. You can go bask in the greatness of your chosen youngster. Still you're also welcome to remain a Cowboys fan and wallow in misery because you don't like the QB of your favorite team.. That just doesn't seem all that healthy to me.. but most of yall are grown so do as you please..

And if he don't sign, will you be shopping or is that advice strictly one way?

Andy Dalton played at the same level as Dak Prescott??

I must have been watching another team this season.

No he got the same team results that Dak was getting.

Remember.. Our goal is to win games.. I’m not sure what objectives you use on Madden to measure success but in real football Andy Dalton won games at the same rate Dak was.

Dak Prescott just isn’t good enough to decide football games like his monetary requests demand of him.

So instead we should team build and not sink our money into a guy that was a watermelon kick from being 0-4.

Huh? I have been a Cowboys fan since I was 5 years old.. which coincidentally was when the Cowboys were also 5 years old. I don't whine about players on my current team and I sure as hell won't be whining about players on other teams.. that includes Dak. Yes I will root for Dak if he signs elsewhere.. until he plays against the Cowboys of course.. However my guess is that nobody here wants to see Dak face our current defense.. So let's hope that if he does sign elsewhere we don't play that team any time soon.. because NFL single game passing records might be in danger if he got to face off against our secondary in its current state.

I agree. I mean, I like Dak, I really do. I just can't see signing him to a deal that is, without a doubt, going to turn you into the Atlanta Falcons of the NFC East.

No matter how many times you say it it's never going to be true that barely losing while the defense is giving up 36 points a game is not the "same results" as getting blown out with the defense giving up 25 .. I am not prepared to give Dalton any credit because the defense suddenly figured out how to force turnovers against backup QBs down the stretch. Dalton aint have diddly to do with that. Any attempt to paint it as such is simply intellectually dishonest. The team as a whole played better in the second half of the season.. which it had to because the QB play was multiple levels below where it had been with Dak.

And so have a lot of those fans who may not be in favor of signing Dak to a mega deal. So the point here, if the advice you are giving is, get on board with Dak or get another team, then you had best be ready to follow your own advice if Dak doesn't get signed. I don't think that happens but you understand how tone deaf that kind of statement sounds right?

For the record, your stance on Dalton is 100% wrong. It's why you come off as tone def. There is no question, at all, that Dalton's professional approach to QB in Dallas helped this team win games. You don't have to acknowledge that but it's true.

Well...

With Dalton and Dak.. IF you look at their careers. They both go as the team around them goes.

Which is why in 2019 just because we played good defense against the Eagles, Saints, and Patriots didn't mean Dak was going to pass for a million yards. Because those defenses don't suck like the defenses he torched this year while also have a ton of volume against those horrible pass defenses.

I get it.. I'm on a Cowboys message board and a lot of you are supporting Dak through emotion. Myself and others have the capability to separate ourselves from the emotion and ask if this is good or if it just feels good to pay Dak?

It's clear to me that Dak is not a difference making QB. He's a replaceable guy and not a rare NFL QB.

No the advice is do yourself a favor and quit whining about some stranger's paycheck. Talking about football is fair game.. Discussing a player's capabilities, level of play, faults, shortcomings.. All worthy discussions. Posting multiple times a day that you don't want a certain player to be paid whatever his paycheck is going to be? Sorry that just makes no sense to me..

As for my take on Dalton? Puhlease.. With Dalton the offense averaged fewer points, fewer yards, more punts and his TD/INT ratio was worse, his completion percentage was lower, his yards per attempt was over TWO YARDS LOWER even though he threw it consistently shorter and his sack percentage was higher. Again despite making much shorter throws. Every member of the offense had their production drop with Dalton at QB vs Dak. "Professional approach?" What the hell does that even mean.. His QBR was 54.1. I'm sure you probably know QBR attempts to rate a QB on "what he does to help his team win games." Dak's was 78.4... For the math impaired that's 24.3 points higher.. meaning Dak was doing a LOT more to help his team win that Dalton did. You don't have to acknowledge that but it's true.

And yet, if somebody were to come on here and say, "We should just pay Dalton 30 mil and move on from Dak", you would be at the head of the line to whine. I mean, gotta keep it real here.
