I know it looks like Rams got their tail kicked but did y’all watch Goff the last few seasons?

Stafford’s career QB rating is 89, very average for this era of quarterbacks and nearly 10 points below Dak’s career rating. And that’s despite playing most of his career with very good receiving targets including a top 5 receiver of all time.

He’s better than Goff, but it’s not like the Rams were on the cusp this year. They had the best defense in football and still were completely non-competitive with GB in the divisional round. Moreover, something being overlooked here is style of play. Stafford has been his entire career in a shotgun dominant pro-spread attack. For the majority of his career he’s run a modern variation of the run and shoot. Now suddenly he’s going to be thrown back in time 25 years to a classic west coast offense with a bunch of concepts he hasn’t regularly run since his days at Georgia.

I knew someone would give up a lot for him. I said as much in the other thread regarding this. I'm just surprised it was the Rams. Not because I think Stafford is some great QB or anything, but because there is a healthy competition for him. That will always drive up the price.

With that trade the Rams don't have a first round pick until 2024.

Hats off to the Rams though......if it ain't working, kill it and get rid of it at all cost.
No hats off to the Rams. They evaluated Goff and made the decision to resign him early for big money. They don't get Kudos for committing over 100M to a QB they ended up wanted rid of so badly they had to add 1st round picks to unload him for a 33 year old QB with back problems.

If Jerry did this you would be killing him.

The moral of this lesson don’t kill yourself with a stupid QB contract unless they are other worldly.
Can you put this on a repeat every hour? Some people can't get it that the team has little recourse if it goes bad. Organizations have to stop it with the lottery size guaranteed money.

I’d bet Stafford will be a top tier QB with McVay, if he reached the SB with Goff then he surely can do it with Stafford, at least he makes then a real contender in the NFC.

Well, they made the SB with Goff in 2019, they reached the divisional round this year and no matter your thoughts on Stafford, I think all of us can agree he is an upgrade over Goff... They are going all in and I like it.
McVay is one of the brightest offensive minds in the game, Stafford will have a great year.

Exactly, Stafford is an incredible QB, being in Detroit is horrible for anyone. McVay + Stafford just made another contender in the NFC.
