49ers could have been in for him as well which may have driven up the price

He underestimated how stupid the Rams were. It is the same team that traded 2 1st's for a cornerback. I felt the same way. I thought teams would wait for the Lions to cut Stafford. I'm trying to figure out how they fleeced the Rams to not only I've up those picks but Goff as well.

Well...there's a learning moment here. As word is something like 6 teams offered a 1st or more.

But, who knows...maybe you'll be proved right and all those GM's will look silly.

BTW...the Jalen Ramsey trade looks smart by me.

You are completely right! But maybe I live vicariously through them because I feel like we do nothing, think we are set and then end up in the mediocre zone another year. I mean when we’re we in Rd 2 of the playoffs
You know what's funny is that they remind me of how Jerry use to run the Cowboys. Making foolish trades trying to win like we are one piece away when we aren't....this like 2010 Jerry Jones to me.

I understand all of the above which Is why I'm questioning the trade for Stafford if they want to win now?

Stafford is more likely to be good in 2021 than a rookie, and I'd include Lawrence in that.

And the price for QB in top 3 draft would be much higher.

They are reporting that seven teams spoke with the Lions about Stafford.

Seven.

I'll gladly admit when I'm wrong. I Was definitely wrong here. I'm still in shock they got this much for Matthew Stafford...I'm sitting here wondering what am I not seeing or understanding about this move lol. Because I've seen Stafford play for 10 years and I'm not seeing it at all.

One of the firsts likely equates to dumping Goff's contract and guaranteed money.
Well damn....so if this is Stafford's trade value than maybe even Carson Wentz has trade value too....

True. That's the risk/reward though isn't it.
I guess it depends upon your valuation of Matt Stafford. E.g. Aaron Rodgers indicates that he's one of the best out there whereas some beer guzzling fans who haven't been able to see their Johnson in over 20 years think he's a bum..gee I wonder who is in a better position to judge...

Stafford is one of the most talented QBs in the last several years, from the standpoint of being able to throw the ball. I believe that but I also believe that he is not a guy who can take a lot of hits in the NFL anymore. You will have to protect him. He can't afford to take a lot of hits IMO.

I'll be honest...to me going from Goff to Stafford seems like a sideways move at best to me. Hell I would've traded this for Watson.

Those who believe Dallas cannot get two first for Prescott are not reading the QB market correctly, injury or not.

Which makes you wonder if a team is willing to give you this much for a quarterback...maybe you should hold on to him lol?

It comes down to your valuation of Matt Stafford.

If you consider him to be a Top 10 QB then he's an upgrade on Goff and it's a good trade. If you do not consider him to be a top 10 QB then it's a bad trade.

I mean this is what they say after every deal made. Bears thought teams were trying to trade up for a quarterback the year they traded up for Trubisky. This league clearly thinks more of Stafford than I do. Hell than the Lions do as well apparently. The actual team that sees him everyday lol.

OH SNAP. Big risk Rams selling out for that 2-3 year window to win a Super Bowl.

But they do get to dump that huge Goff contract even though the price with those 2 1sts seem a bit too much.

I wonder if Whitworth will delay the retirement!

But if Watson wants to be traded than how much higher would you have to trade to get him? Because I thought two 1st's and a 3rd would get him done....apparently all it gets you is Matthew Stafford. Hell a 1st could get you Sam Bradford a few years ago lol.

I'd gladly take 2 firsts..........But let's be real......We could probably draft a player similar in Jamie Newman in the 4th round.
