No mistake was made as Jerry didn't believe in him 2 years ago and the same holds firm today.
Yes, they are trying to find a trade partner but I fear to no avail.
Expect Prescott to be released and have Winston's fate in FA.
Cowboys will move up in the Draft and select a QB with their 1st rounder.
Dalton will start the 2021 season.
That's all for now folks.....

Opposite ends of the spectrum. Both just ignore things they don't want to hear.

Funny thing is they have the same motivation: trying to convince themselves that Jerry actually knows what he's doing. :muttley:

I mean- if we could trade Dak, who I love, straight up for Deshaun Watson, I would do the trade in a heartbeat.

I can almost promise you our front office hasn't even explored the idea.

Just draft a guy or see what it would take to acquire Darnold because I think he is a great risk / reward if the price is right.

Its a situation where neither choice is pretty.....

But I think keeping Dak is the best bet moving ahead.

Its too uncertain as to how to replace him.

The guy is by no means great but look at what a guy like Tannehill is being paid. Is HE great?? Not by a longshot.

It comes down to coaching and it hasn't been all that great in Dallas for a very long time.

There's one man to fault for that.....which is the same guy you want heading this whole choosing a new QB and spending the savings on FA....

My gosh Jeff Saturday is an idiot.

“They aren’t a 6-10 football team with Dak Prescott on the field.”

We were a watermelon kick away from 0-4 you donut.

What are we with him? 7-9? 8-8?

Get out of here with this nonsense.. This overrating of Dak is part of the problem.

1) We have little info on Dak’s injury right now. If Dak’s injury is career ending, Jerry made exactly the right choice last year and the year before by not giving a huge contract. Bad for Dak but good for the team. I assume we care more about the team than Dak. Dak probably has a very nice insurance policy in the case of career ending injury.

2) Maybe Dak isn’t all that at QB and maybe a rookie like Fields and a vet like Dalton can deliver the same or better results. In that case, Jerry made the right decision. Maybe Fields is better than Dak and much cheaper.

3) Maybe the Cowboys can’t win paying a mediocre talent $35-40M. In that case, Jerry made the right decision.

4) Maybe Jerry let’s Dak hit the market and match the best offer, which right now is nothing because Dak can’t pass a physical. Dak has no value until he can run, cut, and throw.

5) Had Jerry signed Dak to a massive contract last year, the same whiners would be crucifying Jerry for signing a cap killing contract on a mediocre QB who is damaged goods and will never be the same.

Need to give it some time first to accurately judge.

Be fair.

This team was legendarily bad on defense.

Pick whichever QB in league history you want and they don't win with the defense that Dallas put on the field this year.

That said, yeah....because of that, Dak doesn't turn them into a great team if not injured.

There's really not many QBs that can get it done on their own. Rodgers in the regular season is as close as it comes.

They need to step in crap to end up with the right supporting cast anyway, which is why I dont think Daks 40M yearly matters much.

Still would need to pay 25m per to someone like Darnold or Bridgewater.

The savings doesn't mean as much as you want to think.

The media as usual only tells one side of the argument. Dak was never going to sign the contract two years ago. The Cowboys made a fair offer that appeared to be agreed on but after Dak beat Miami he upped the cost. France wants Dak to be the highest paid quarterback in the league. He will not settle for anything less. The Cowboys have to find an offer that Dak will like and override France. ESPN ex GM is such a tool.
