This is why you have to consider all options at 10

For you needy folk.

On face value, a TE at 10 seems ridiculous but while the Cowboys have a lot of skill position talent on offense and have an emerged Dalton Schultz as a legit starter they do not have this kind of dynamic presence at the position. (First one to say Blake Jarwin gets Butcher head noogies.)

That's not to say he's my target. I want to use that pick for a QB. Probably in a trade up. But this is why you acquire talent in the draft and why you must consider Pitts because he gives you something special.

I think you have to consider every option and weigh value. Dallas sets tiers because usually there are at least a few players on each level who are considered equal in ability for their position. If Pitts is in a tier ahead of players available to Dallas at 10 at a need position, then I wouldn't want Dallas to take the need position player over him; that's where drafting for need can hurt you. But if Pitts is considered to be in the same tier as a player like Farley, then Dallas should take the need player.

Note that some tiers may only include one or two players. Others may include 10.

Of course. Often times you won't have one player above all others but when you do need goes out the window. Take the talent.

Of course you have to consider all options, that's a given. And there is such a thing as always taking the bpa in any draft, needs be d****d.

But need also figures into to it. What good is a fast, good hands tight end doing you if your quarterback is flat on his back buried under a pile of defenders? If your running game is so poor teams can double your great tight end every play? If you can score 30 pts a game with your great tight end but your awful defense gives up 31 a game?

One player, not a quarterback, seldom will get you championships...

Or trade down. But the trade has to be worth what the supposedly superior talent you're giving up.

I love Pitts, but question his fit with the Cowboys. However, I don't see him still being there at 10. Many legit insiders are linking him the the Eagles.

I'd be shocked if they went there. Especially after the Wentz trade.

I mean yea, WR (call Pitts whatever you want, he's a receiver), is going to be BPA at 10. Either him or Waddle will be there, and one of them would be BPA.

Pitts has to be in the convo period. Most likely will be gone though

Pitts and Slater are more luxury picks.

Im 100% behind this, if we find a starter or two in free agency. No way can we enter the year though, drafting them and not signing a few other starters.

I know BPA- but I’d feel a lot better about Pitts if we could secure a trade for Gallup 1st. I don’t want to trade Gallup, but the reality is that it’s going to come down to him or Amari and I won’t be surprised to see Amari restructured with the cap being tight this year. Cashing in on an extra pick for Gallup while adding Pitts to keep the offense high powered does make some sense. Just not sure what Gallup’s worth is...gotta imagine he’ll net us at least a 4th comp if let walk after the year so I’d need at least an earlyish 3rd

I know they have a new HC, but they are one of those teams who like to use those multiple TE Sets, where Ertz looks like he's next to be dealt.

Tough decision if he's available at 10

This is no different than last year when we took Lamb. We didn’t necessarily need Lamb but he was the BPA by a mile. Our O is better for it now. Do whatever you have to do to go BPA early on offense or defense. If that happens to be Pitts fine. If we can protect and not turn the ball over we can be unstoppable.
