Think you need to join the I love Rockport club....

I know that you have a very low IQ, Mr. Inferior.

English is your 1st language and you type like you’re in the 2nd grade.

Sucks to be you.

Place the non-exclusive franchise tag on him and let's see where it goes.

A non-exclusive franchise player may negotiate with other NFL teams, but if the player signs an offer sheet from another team, the original team has a right to match the terms of that offer, or if it does not match the offer and thus loses the player, is entitled to receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

I'd like to keep Dak, but not on a three year cap busting deal. I hope there is no truth to the rumor. In any event if we can't get a deal done early this is the way to go. Dak will either find his worth or lack thereof as many of you say.

If someone signs him, with our 10th pick and 3 first the following season we have more than enough ammo to move up and get our QB. From there we have the cap space to make a difference on the defense and we can go heavy on D the rest of the draft as well.

I'm a Dak fan, but a much bigger Cowboys fan. Let's quit playing games and get this done.

I'm a Cowboys fan as well. If Dak doesn't want to sign with the Cowboys, that's his fault. I think the offer given to him is more than fair.

However, I think they should think of trading Dak for draft picks. Trade up and get a QB in this years draft.

Whatever the Cowboys need right now they can't afford to sit back and wait for things to happen. The longer they wait, the more they lose leverage.

The front office will goof this up. Dak will end up going to another team, and we have no compensation to show for.

There is a little rule that compensates a team for losing a free agent. So we can't lose Dak and get nothing in return. That's impossible!

But knowing what Dak is worth on the free market could help Dallas in negotiations. So I want Dallas to put the non-exclusive tag on Dak just to see what happens.

What difference does it make if it busts the cap or not! Have we been able to win while in good cap shape? Y’all act like the Jones build a good team when the cap is good .

No team is going to give up two 1st round picks for Dak knowing that he will be an unrestricted free agent in about a year.

He’s going to leave, either soon or in a year, and we aren’t going to get anything meaningful in return due to Jerry’s mismanagement.

Excellent post, we need to get this saga over asap.
It's holding the entire franchise hostage.

I've seen this suggestion many times.

Here's the deal. No team would be interested. So it would accomplish nothing. Nobody's giving up two 1s for the right to give Dak Prescott 40 million a year. It's not happening. You'd have to be delusional to think there'd be interest in that.

The Cowboys are negotiating against themselves. Which is why they're idiots and Prescott actually has no leverage despite media and fan boy reports.
I think your right that no team would give up 2 firsts for Dak, and pay him 40 million, but it would let Dak know that. The media has been saying pay Dak and he is getting 40 million. Dak is believing the hype. He needs to know the true market and the only way is to let him walk or give him the non exclusive tag.

Ok let's all go in the corner and cry. What difference does it make boo hoo. If that's how you feel why waste your time following the team? Cap matters.

The two first round draft picks make it unlikely such a move would resolve anything. That, on top of a huge contract, is a significant price to pay for any free agent.

Transition tag was the way to go. See what offers he gets then have the choice to match and keep him or decline and walk away. This issue would've been resolved last Spring.

If we draft a QB, there’s like a 90% chance that he’ll never be as good as Dak.

I’m not signing up for that. Never forget Paxton Lynch and Jerry’s hard-on for him.

Nav if, Daks agent is really looking for a 3 year deal we will have no cap flexibility. No one knows if that's true, fortunately. All I am saying is we need options. Worst case depending on your perspective is we get 2 ones or he gets knocked down a peg. Id like to keep him but this is an extremely long negotiation to this point.

my fear is JJ is gonna allow him to walk and we wont get anything because Jerrys loyalty is over the top. I think that is why we haven't placed the non franchise Tag on him.
