At 40 million or 41 million per year average, were at the ridiculous point. If that is truly where we are.

Jerry could have had this wrapped up for 35 million or a little less two years ago and 35 million just last year and he blew it. So if he has to pay upwards of 40 million, then he blew it.

On the surface, it looks like Dak cares about maximizing his money. If all this salary conjecture is really true. His determination to maximize his money 3 years from now with the TV contract shows again, that we will have to do this all over again, and the numbers will be even more crazy. If the rumors are true.

Problem is we have NO other options at the moment.

Cutting Dak for nothing is just dumb. Simply cant do that. You either sign Dak 3 years and work on his replacement during that time or you trade him.

Giving away the rights to Dak is NOT an option.

Here are the options I see that make any sense:

-Sign Dak, play out the next 3 years, continue to build the defense and team around the QB
-Sign Dak, at some point trade him while you build the defense and team around the QB
-trade him now before the draft

Options that make ZERO sense:

-Let Dak walk
-let Dak play on the tag this year and let him walk

Either way, this Jerry/Dak contract is to the point of total stupidity. Needs to be done with already one way or the other.

Jerry bumbles many things lol..he's guilty as charged. But this isn't one of them. Dak and the agent turned down something like a 145 million dollar deal last year and how was that his fault? Dak and the agent want an unprecedented 3 year deal which would hamper the team from moving on any free agents to fix the defense. Not going to happen.

no he turned down a 5 year deal, he wanted 4, all they had to do was give it to him. as I said before, they had 4 years to fix the defense.

at this point this entire thing is petty. They just need to get it done or trade him.

qbs are getting 4 year deals

Texans QB Deshaun Watson signs 4-year, $160M extension
and what happened to the Texans promptly afterwards? THEY STINK. They couldn't improve the team. They gave the farm to Watson and it affected what they could do. That is fact.NOW after Watson signed that mega deal, and after the team sacrificed it all by signing him to an ill advised 4 year deal, he wants out. The team is now a wreck..a dumpster fire. These type of deals wreck teams. The front office kinda deserves it btw..for making this deal as well.

Watson signed that deal like 5 months ago and suddenly he goes against his agreement, after he gets the bonus. This stinks on every level. The player and team are behaving shameful.

it had nothing to do with Watson, it had to do with their dumb coach/Gm making dumb trades.

I think the problem is more Dak's agent. Dak was offered 30M/year 2 years ago. His agent opted to let Dak play for 400k in 2019. The thinking was Dak would make up for it with a bigger signing bonus the next year. Well, that didn't happen and Dak got tagged instead. So, Todd France is literally trying to make up for his gaff in 2019. Not that Dak is poor by any definition, but he currently has 15-25M less in his bank account than he would if he had signed that contract back in 2019. Todd owes him that money , and its his reputation on the line as an agent.

Dallas will survive not signing Dak. I'm not sure Todd France's career will survive not getting Dak a deal in Dallas.

Not apples vs apples
I'll say it one more time.

A 4 year extension with one year left--time-wise ---is 5 years.
Same applied to Wentz and Goff too.

The first round QBs on 5 year deals were getting 4 year extensions.....or 9 years total.
Dak was on a 4 year deal, so to match he would need a 5 year extension....last year.

He's now entering his 2nd year after his initial contract, so a 4-year deal would actually now line him up with his 2016 draft peers.
He wanted 4 instead 5 last year, and he wants 3 instead of 4 this year.

I'm no Jerry fan, but this isn't all on Jerry. We have heard a lot of rumors but we don't know what is really going on. It takes two to come to an agreement.

I know this, and have mentioned this before, Mickey Spagnolia made this same point long time ago. the problem is the Front Office screwed that up when they waited to sign him. so in essence they should've just given them the 4 years. if they would've extended him with a year left, Dak more than likely would have taken the 4 year extension, which would've given the FO the extra year.

33-35 million per year and 105-110 million guaranteed seemed more than fair. To me that wasn’t a low ball offer like some suggest. If those numbers were true.

Bottom line is Jerry Jones has bumbled the Cowboys organization for 25 years. The Dak contract fiasco and ongoing drama of it is just the latest fail in a quarter century of failure.
