If Dak is saying this, let him walk. I'd rather go 7-9 and with Alex Smith instead of 8-8 with Dak...

I would not even put Smith as an option or any other old QB. If Dallas can't get a deal done then Cowboys must change direction in this draft with QB being top priority, you take the overall 10 pick and either select QB there or look to move up and get the QB you feel is the best. Playing around with old QB is nothing more than spinning your wheels

I didnt want dak at 35 mil a season let alone at what they are asking. Please people just think whats better for the long term of this team dak taking up 20-30% of the cap or a couple picks we could get for him and using the money to build the team. Dak is not a top 3 QB. He's around the 6-11 mark depending on who you ask. I know it sucked years with quincy carter but if we get dak we are gonna be 8-8-9-7 again for the next forseeable future. A guy like Fitzpatrick or Jones from bama or Trask from florida + 2 premium picks and 40 million in cash is sooooo much better then resigning dak.

Meh. Dak's best season was his rookie year. Since then it's been downhill.

He's a good "presentation" guy (like Garrett), but he's not worth what Mahomes is who only got such a deal after winning a Super Bowl. Dak's not good enough to be the "carry a team factor" over a good to strong defense, all other things being equal.

Daks career to date has been one blessed with foundational pieces like a solid offensive line and back then what was a solid rookie RB. As you have watched the offensive line degrade around him you have seen Dak play a lot worse. A large part of that is the time it takes him to go through his progressions - very slow. If he wants to be paid 44 million a year then this team is better off cutting bait or if they can tag and trade him great. I doubt if any team out there is going to want to mainly because they can simply wait the year for Dak to walk and secondly no one know what version of Dak is going to come back from the injury.

A few days ago, some posters on here were saying that Mahomes had a team friendly deal that would allow KC to keep players.
Is that the case?
Serious question, I'm not very good at contracts and i know some of you are....

The sheer length of his deal makes it easier for KC to make the cap work even though there's a gaudy total cap number of at least 450million.
IMO If Dak wants 40mil aav but was willing to go 5-6 years it would be easier to make it work than 40mil aav at 4 years.
While it's only one or two years, the ability to spread out the prorated bonus is stretched out and they can set restructures and spread out those cap hits over a longer term dropping the cap hits per year

This is exactly the issue. It's not just the money or the length. It's both. If he pushed for one, but relented on the other I think this would be done.

Unbelievable that Troy would swallow Todd France's encouragement to assume such high expectations. Todd France, evidently, has Dak in his back pocket, with all the lavish praise that he's awarding him. I was hoping Dak was wise enough not to swallow the fairy tales that France leads him with. I gave Dak credit for having a better sense of reality than that. I really hope this is fake news but if not, nothing good seems likely to come from it. It makes me sad to see Dak being led by someone so determined to make such absurd demands. Dak would be wise to rid himself of Todd France.

Obscurity? As opposed to playing for a team that wins nothing but gets a lot of attention? :muttley:

It's not 1995, and hasn't been for a long time. Playing for the Dallas Cowboys is no longer a privilege.
Why are you even here? To convince others to be as miserable and curmudgeon as you? I'm only 1/4 of the way through the thread....sheesh.

why are you here? Are you even a fan? I am truly askin. Most of us here dont have the answers but are searching for them honestly. Dallas is still a top 5 desired team to go play for. I promise you this. Despite the owner.
You beat me to it. I guess I'll have to keep on scrolling. Got me a cliff hanger here.

I want Dak to stay but is it any wonder he’s besties with the biggest diva on the team, zeke?

Apparently they drink from the same well of delusional waters and spend more time getting low key faded than facing reality.
