Hope springs eternal.

After Jerry caved to Zeke, anyone who thought this wasn't going to happen was kidding themselves. The old man held out as long as he could but it was always going to end this way. Take solace in the likelihood they weren't going to put together a championship team anyway, with or without Dak.

Funny how that works..25 years w no success..dak signs a contract and it's his fault the team can't win lolol

Gallup and maybe Gregory are the only 2 I'd resign atm, and maybe Williams. LVE I wouldn't keep.

Can't see us signing Gallup. Drafting Lamb gave us the option of moving on from Gallup w/o worry. We still have 2 WR#1s. We should cash Gallup out into a pick or two and shift those resources to other positions with greater need. I *hope* we move away from 3 WR, and go with Pollard as the 5th man instead.

Williams, maybe if he comes cheap. He had a good year on a bad oline. He may have turned a corner. That would be a big tell that Jerry expects a booming cap, and just wants to lock in as many contracts as he can.

A bigger tell - if they try to lock in a guy like Awuzie for a few years. Down year for cap off a down year for Awuzie. It's a buyers market on Awuzie right now. Giving him a multi year contract is announcing that Jerry expects the cap to boom.

In terms of importance, Gregory is next.

It’s funny. DAK’s fans don’t care if he’s paid 40 million or 40 bucks. We are just happy he’s here and signed. The people emphasizing the money are the ones who don’t like his game, but the money means nothing and will not affect us signing anyone we want on defense. Just say you don’t like that he’s still here....I can respect your opinion about the Cowboys franchise QB as a player, but pointing to the money like 40 vs 35 is the difference between a SB or the cellar is stupid.

It’s Jerry’s money. Dak is the QB. Like it or not, get behind this roster or take a long walk.

Perhaps by the 4th year the cap hit will be ok compared with the rest of the QB's league? So the next three years written off for one year of hope?

Now we have to wait and see if they’re going to trade him , To New England. They just want to get the deal done

No trade clause in the contract, but I guess you can always hope.

Jerry was never going to let Dak get away. Deep down, anyone who has followed this team for years knew it. Some just chose not to believe it.

We've had that in the past, and still "liked our own" Don't know how correct this is, but we have unused cap room from 2020 about that range. Wasn't spent to help the team at all. This was a lot of coin just spent by JJ, that's why I doubt we'll turn around and go all in like we really should with those savings. They've been clever in how the PR team relays this, been happening for awhile, re-signing our own is the "FA period".

Last year they made an effort, but they had a huge qb contract looming. Let's see what happens this year.

It'd make more sense than simply giving the win to whoever started the game.

Bottom line is the dude went 1-3 in games he started and finished. The team went 4-7 without him. Then you have the one win he split time with Dalton.

This guy's a winner!
You bet he is.....

I'm glad it's over. As another poster said Dakameddon is finally hit and will pass. We can all move on.

I'm happy it's over. I'm not really excited about the numbers and the no trade and no tag clause. So pretty much Dak and his agent didn't budge and Jerry completely caved. As usual. Jerry showed how amateur he is as a GM. No qualified GM completely caves on a negotiation and gives the player everything he demands. And why the crap did Jerry put us through all this for a year just to cave to his demands? I had to be a fan of Dak but I'm throwing his jersey away. Screw him, he totally got greedy and screwed over our franchise. He doesn't care about the Cowboys. If he did he would have been more flexible.

I think our team is weaker because of this and we will be a below average team to average team for the next four years and I hope Dak is blamed for every loss we have. I hope the media destroys him and his annoying brother.

Everyone who said we can just draft a defense, well you'll get your wish. My heart is telling me this franchise will suck as usual, probably more so, for the next four years. The first four games of this season will be the next 4 years.

The optimism in me says what I said last night. Now the 3 most important players on our team is Hill, Gallimore and McCoy. If they deliver and we can draft a secondary we may have a slim chance of winning the division. And then getting pounded in the playoffs, rinse wash repeat of the last 25 years.

Thanks Jerry, thanks for being the most incompetent GM and owner of any sports team for the quarter century. Looking forward to 25 more years of suckage.

Well good, Dak is now the second highest player coming off a 2-3 season with a season ending injury. Jerry sure can pick them huh ?
Funny thing is that they actually stumbled onto both Romo and Prescott

This is just dumb. They wrecked us. Why do people say we can move on? What happens if next year goes bad and we can’t tag or trade? I’m
A fan as I’ve said all along but this contract is plain stupid

I'm not one of those who is 40 vs 35. I'm 40 vs under 10 for a good rookie QB for 5 years so a good team can put around the QB.
