Respectfully Amigo, did you ever watch Pearson play? If you had, I don't think you'd be describing his play that way. The Cowboys were a finese team in those days. They weren't a ground and pound team like the 90's. Pearson was a great receiver and downfield blocker. He had tenacity and heart, and was a team leader for several years. You can't always judge a player by total yards and catches.

Amen.. Drew Pearson was the most clutch receiver I think I ever saw. There was simply no covering him on the deep comeback route. It was like stealing when he and Roger ran it. I'm sure he dropped a pass or two but I cannot recall ever seeing him do so. People who get hung up on numbers from a completely different era of football compared to today could not be more blind. The fact that Drew was named first team all-decade in the 1970's should be all anyone needs to know about his place in the game. He was first team all-pro three times.. THREE. Mind you this was accomplished while playing in the same era as other hall of famers like Paul Warfield, Charley Taylor, Lynn Swann, Harold Carmicheal, , Lance Alworth, John Stallworth and on and on. He rarely had huge numbers because the Cowboys were a loaded offense and Landry believed in spreading the ball around. If Drew played for a coach who believed more in feeding a player and taking the best advantage of favorable matchups he might have doubled his career numbers. Even at that he managed to lead the league in receiving yards once. And the year he did it the Cowboys won the Super Bowl.. so for all those who reached for their keyboards to claim it was "garbage time yards" you can stand down.. Pearson's 88 was the first jersey I ever bought.. and remains one of only two that I have.. the other is Emmitt's 22. I may buy others as the years go on.. but those two will always be my first two..

Not bad for a slender looking free agent from Tulsa. He was a clutch receiver not just to Staubach but also Danny White. The thinnest legs you would find on an NFL receiver but tough as nails. And a class act, after 33 years being inducted into the HOF he could have been bitter, but he was as giddy as a schoolgirl on prom night. Happy for him and his family to enjoy this moment. I am sure Roger will be ecstatic to be his presenter at the HOF ceremony. Looking forward to watch it.
