So our current cornerback stable is Trevon Diggs and Anthony Brown? (and the Robinson guy who might be a corner or might be moving to safety)

I'm having a hard time seeing anyone other than Surtain or Farley being the pick at #10 unless we make a significant corner acquisition before the draft.

Sooooo in keeping count.

We had a DT problem in 2020 and look like we will wait for the crumbs.

We had a S problem in 2020 and look like we will wait for the crumbs.

We have a CB problem and look like we will wait for the crumbs.

Seems par for the course with Jerry and Stephen.
They have a plan.

The challenge for this front office is they are likely looking for players that are willing to sign a 1 or 2 yr deal. Probably between 5-8 mil per. Not a lot of guaranteed money. If those are the parameters it makes finding good players difficult. Damn near impossible. Hence we get what we get..
If thats' what they are looking for then yeah they are going to wait free agency out and hope a situation happens like Everson Griffen did last year.

Our corners suck because we get no pressure up front and have no safeties... I don’t blame him, get out ASAP.

Wonder what he gets paid. He's not worth top dollar but for the right price he'd be ok. Hope he lives up to his potential somewhere...we clearly lack the ability to develop DB's.

Know what?

I forgot about Brown, and although that says plenty.....I agree he is good enough for what they ask of him.

However if he is asked to be CB2 we are in trouble.
He played CB2 most of last year
He’s an above avg CB
My hope is he is the 3rd behind Diggs, draft pick
I think that’s gonna be the plan and why I think surtain/Farley/Horn will be our first pick

Bengals fans sharing a short clip of a pick that he made that was quite athletic as a sign that this is gold for them.

Anyone have the heart to tell them that he's only had three more of those in his career?

It's not a dumb take that this dude was expected to be a good starter and wasn't. That's reality.
It is a dumb take because a) you can't expect a second-round pick to be a good starter and b) he is.

If there's a consolation prize, its that we should be in prime position to scoop up many players that will be cut due to the cap decreasing.....

Oh wait.....that didn't come remotely close to happening.

Nevermind.

Guess I'm wondering what are fans expecting? We are/were NEVER going to sign any of the TOP players that are signing now. Most of the mid-tier players are still out there so still have plenty of time and players before saying we are NOT going to help the D.

I mean you probably have made this post every year for the last 5 years and pretty much every year, save for maybe last year when the spent a bit of money on DTs, they have largely not done much to improve the defense in terms of bringing in quality players. They usually just hit the bargain bin looking for the Nolan Carrolls and Stephen Paea's of the world.

A couple of years ago the Cowboys had Byron Jones, Lewis, Awuzie and Brown at CB. Now they have Diggs and Brown and some cast-off from the Jets. In 2016, the Cowboys had the best offensive line in football, arguably. In a few short years it became a source of concern. The problem isn't drafting. They managed to build strengths through the draft. The problem is keeping those strengths while building others. It takes too long to build an entire team through the draft. Free agency is a tool to help with the rebuilding process and the Cowboys are one franchise the simply refuses to use it.

Now the Cowboys will be forced to use multiple draft picks to find STARTING caliber CBs because they could not re-sign the ones they had. In the meantime, the DL is weak, the OL is injured and aging, the RB is getting slow, and S remains the problem it has been for years. This is why other teams use free agency not just to fill the roster, but to fix holes in their roster.

We know how it turned out this site and most fans loved it at the time.

They signed guys that were has been 'name only' players that were obviously past their prime. I think many fans are so desperate to return to the glory days that when Dallas signs someone the fans, much like the Dallas organization, simply overvalue the free agent or their own players to their detriment.

That’s why good teams can draft BPA. We are not a good team so we’re going to be forced to draft for need. If we don’t we keep chasing our tale. If this is the philosophy it’s too much to ask for

I assume we are signing some vets as we can’t expect to make it through a season with a 2nd year corner and a rookie.
