What do you mean better record? Bad teams aren't suppose to be bad forever. None of them are threats to win anything for real anyway.

Well JAX just seriously upgraded their defensive secondary with some quality free agent signings. Their offense has a quality running back and they will be getting Trevor Lawrence so things are suddenly looking more promising in JAX than in Dallas.

Reports are he wanted a fresh start. Wasn’t interested in returning to Dallas
i really dont blame him for that sometimes a fresh start is good thing and the cowboys are on the road to nowhere so moving may make thing better for him

This seems like their strategy. Sign older vets and find their CBs in the draft. Not a horrible method but it puts pressure on them to have to "hit" at CB in the draft, which they haven't really done outside of Jones (and maybe Diggs).

I agree.

Not only that but there are busts every year. Hell just look at the 1st round picks at corner...Diggs probably was arguably better than all of them and he was a 2nd round pick. It just goes to show that this is all so risky.

Draft a corner first and then sign a legit starting corner and I feel ok about this secondary. Well the corners anyway.

I mean if you say so. Not trying to boost up the Cowboys especially in the middle of free agency where things look low but there is absolutely nothing that looks promising about the Jags IMO. Hell I feel like they looked more promising years ago when they had that solid defense with Ramsey, Bouye, etc. on it. A shame it got wasted.

It most definitely will. I was pretty sure they'd do it before....now I'm like 70% sure they will do it. I do get excited by the possibility of having Farely or Surtain and Diggs for the next 4 years at least playing together.
I get more excited having the possibility of an elite superstar TE dominating defenses over drafting a cornerback that can be drafted in the second round and have very little talent drop off from Farley or Surtain.

I still say Dallas doesn't pass on Pitts regardless.

The market for Andy Dalton is active on the second day of negotiating. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported the Chicago Bears “are in on” the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and the San Francisco 49ers are a “strong contender” to land him. In his first season in Dallas, and away from the Cincinnati Bengals, Dalton started nine of 11 games played, completing 64.9 percent of his passes and throwing for 2,170 yards, 14 TDs and 8 INTs.

I didnt even read it. It was a sarcastic response to the continual whine fest

"Whine fest"??? So if anyone compliments another team on their signings and offers concern that Dallas isn't doing anything to improve then to you they are whiners? Damn people on here sure are sensitive and over reactive.

Oh see I keep going. If I draft Surtain in the 1st....and get to the 2nd round and one of those corners are there? I'm still drafting corner. I'm building this defense back up the right way. Building up the depth. Granted, I'd love to go defensive linemen there if possible or linebacker.

On a team with Amari Cooper, Gallup and Lamb.....tight end would be a wasted pick. Unless you believe in putting up 40 points a game which is fine but this team has shown they have no issue of allowing 41 points a game.

Oh I know lol....I got it. That's why I'm laughing at it...there's no damn way the Jaguars are in any position to do anything as currently constructed and their offseason hasn't been that great.

Makes way more sense in SF as a backup on a contender IMO.

An exercise I find helpful in times like these is to take a look at the Bears and how they go about their business.

Anyone who is going to hang their hat on Dalton being a starter....and not even a placeholder at that....

I wouldnt be shocked if Dalton takes less money and stays here on the cheap. His wife and kid really love it here. That is a HUGE factor.

You don't have to archive, I openly admit I wanted them to get Griffen and when they did, I gave them credit for it. It didn't work out (we can debate as to why but that's not important here) but one move they made doesn't wash away the overall philosophy that this team simply sucks at FA either because they don't scout well or are largely too cheap in FA to try to improve. So no, them actually signing Griffen doesn't mean that things have changed. The odds are heavily in favor of them waiting a week and then signing some bargain slop largely because that's their history. The Griffen signing doesn't shift the philosophy of Jerry and Stephen.

I hope I am wrong.

Few things are different now (this year) IMO.........
*MM is in his second year ( COVID-19 had a major impact on his first offseason)
* New defensive coor with serious skin on the wall
* Stephen williness to sign players 30+ as he did last year ( can't remember it happening under Garret tenure)
* There are a lot of good/quality players out there. Some may not have the so-called name recognition but are just as effective.

I've said before ( could certainly be wrong) but IMO they having freed up X amount money for nothing. I'm guessing they've already targeted a couple of players at certain positions they feel pretty good about signing.
