It might sound crazy but Pitts is the guy

This is completely out of character for me because I’m old school and think defense wins championships, but out of every player in this draft I think Pitts has the most potential to be a Hall of famer. He’s a matchup nightmare for safeties and linebackers. Gallup will probably be gone in free agency soon & Cooper + Lamb are a fantastic 1/2 punch, but adding Pitts to the mix would not only benefit Dak the most but he’ll change defensive schemes and open up things for the run game and you can’t really double any of our WR’s because you’ll more than likely have to bracket or double Pitts. The NFL hasn’t seen a guy like this come out of college in a long, long time. He’s an instant pro-bowler and could potentially lead the league in yards & TDs based on how Dak really likes to play (Dak n dunk, protect the football, etc)

It’s crazy for me to say this but I don’t think you can pass on this guy if he’s on the board at pick 10 and I actually wouldn’t be mad if they moved up to get him. The boys’ have the picks to move around in the draft and I would literally spend the rest of the 10 picks on the defense.

In the end I think Gallup will command a crazy contract based on his production and skill set, this would replace him with a better player, at a position of need, a safety valve for Dak and a guy that is already probably as good as Travis Kelce or maybe even better... and he’ll be on a rookie deal, so you can save the money you’d pay Gallup and spend that on the defense.

Welcome to what I been saying for months.
Glad everyone is finally catching up with me.
Unfortunately He's not falling to 10.

I think you can pass on him pretty easily. We have 3 WRs who give you the same matchups on the outside and a TE who can do much of the same down the seam.

I mean everything we talk about with Pitts is exactly what this receiving corps already does.

how Dak really likes to play (Dak n dunk, protect the football, etc) - entirely wrong.

You clearly didn’t read my whole post, Gallup will be gone so no we don’t have 3 WRs that give the same problems.

Also, that’s how Dak played in arguably his best season (2016), he Dak n dunked the ball down the field and VERY RARELY turned the ball over and they won like 11 or 12 straight games.. you’re right, he doesn’t do that anymore but he needs to get back to doing that & protect the ball more.

He might be BPA at 10 but he's really overkill based on what we do on offense.

They really are in a tough spot at 10. The best players might be WRs or a TE.

We most likely loss Gallup next year.
You can't just look at the impact of a draft for one season only.
And Pitts is on a whole different level.

Yes.
But he could easily be gone.
I think everyone sees what an anomaly this guy is.

And yes, agree that either Cooper or Gallup would need to be traded to make better sense of it

I mean yea I don't mind drafting Pitts with the idea of basically making him your third WR next year.

But yes you can pass on him because he doesn't give you a ton of short-term improvement.

I have to disagree with you on that, imagine the Chiefs without Kelce. They simply aren’t the same team without that guy, he changes everything and that’s what we’d get with Pitts.

The Chiefs without Kelce would be like the Cowboys without Cooper.

Pitts doesn't have the impact on the Cowboys that Kelce does on the Chiefs.

But you are comparing Pitts, a rookie, to Kelce, a proven NFL stud TE.

Future's point is that in the short term, Pitts probably doesn't give you a ton of short-term improvement. Largely because you already have 3 big weapons at WR. Pitts is a great prospect but on a team that already had dominant pass catchers, IMO, I doubt you get this big bump in the passing game that you think you will.

I'm a defensive guy all the way, but Pitts was a problem for Surtain on the outside. That led me to believe this Pitts guy could be a crazy weapon.

Sidenote: When I watched Pitts I saw this player comp, a mix of: Dez, CeeDee and Patrick Crayton.

The list of all time top 10 TEs isn't good at all.

Vernon Davis is about the only one who lived up to the status.

I've heard plenty about "matchup nightmares" and it just isn't the case when they get to the NFL.

There are plenty of DBs that can handle him.

Not trying to bad mouth the guy.....but when there's literally ONE example of a great TE taken in the top 10 in the history of the league, it makes you pause.

Been saying this past few weeks. If we don’t go Pitts then we probably going OL or maybe even WR. I’m getting the feeling scouts and coaches don’t feel any defensive player is worth 10 overall pick. Same feeling that we are going all defense on Day 2.

LOL.

Would be soooooooooooo Jerry Jones to use the 10th pick to grab a WR.

Have learned that you gotta think like our fake GMs in charge instead of what would most make sense for the team.
