FEATURED FA agent thread

I wish we had some people in the media with balls in this town that would not take Stephen's eventual bullspit that he'll spew in a few weeks when discussing FA.

They keep going the cheap route in FA and it burns them over and over. I wish a reporter would list off their FA signings over the last 5 years and ask Stephen to explain how it is possible they could be so bad at this and why they keep doing it this way.
The local media is clearly intimidated by those two.

They are never presented with tough questions.

Jerry would have been run out of places like Boston, NY or Philly years ago, not wanting to deal with the daily heat.

Prepared to be dazzled. Our FAs over the last 5 years:

2016

Cedric Thornton
Benson Mayowa
Alfred Morris
Joe Looney

Sadly, this might the best FA haul of the last 5 years

2017

Nolan Carroll
Byron Bell
Stephen Paea
Damontre Moore
Jonathon Cooper

2018

Allen Hurns
Deonte Thompson
Cam Fleming
Marcus Martin
Joe Thomas

2019

Randall Cobb
Kerry Hyder
Christian Covington

2020

Andy Dalton
Blake Bell
Cam Erving
Everson Griffen
Aldon Smith
Dontari Poe
Gerald McCoy
Maurice Canady
Brandon Carr
Daryl Worley
HaHa Clinton Dix
Greg Zuerlein

That's quite the list. I'd argue that in the last 5 years, we landed only two impact FAs - Cobb and Zuerlein. Aldon Smith was decent. But man, the vast majority are total, unadulterated wash outs.

And our response to these failures? Do the same thing again. LOL.
but..but...but...Scott Pioli said they were doing it the right way........so clueless

When you compare advanced stats of DE in the entire NFL, DLaw ranks in the top in every category. If your only looking at sacks then that is where you have gone wrong. There is much more value that DLaw brings. Only Joey Bosa has more QB pressures that past 3 seasons then DLaw.

Again, just my opinion. I think D-law is a good player, but not worth 20 mil a year. No way he gets that amount if he's cut tomorrow even in a normal cap year.. Is he the best player we have on defense? absolutely but that doesn't make him elite. Elite players like Garrett and Bosa defend the run, get the pressure, AND the sacks even with crappy players on their defense.

Yet they have the nerve to get in front of a mic and say that they have the "secret sauce...."

What a disaster.

Jerry Jones is very much dialed into league circles etc.....Pioli was kissing butt, plain and simple.

Very few if any in the media call out Jones like he ought to be.

Not great for your career.

That's the only way he gets away with this.

No expense is spared when it comes to retaining a player that Jerry wants in his inner circle....

Or threatens that seasons upcoming SB run with a holdout.

The mismanagement is beyond a joke at this point.

gotta prove you made the right decision in drafting them right? it'd make us look bad to admit every draft pick is wrong lol

I would get Hyder back again. All that dude does is make plays.

That wasn't my reasoning. I just don't want the Eagles to draft anyone nice. I want them to do what they've been doing. Making dumb draft picks.
all teams have issues with the draft and hit on some..eagles will draft good player at 6 and seriously the only way they can mess this up is taking a QB instead of helping Hurts ..rumor they might take fields if hes there..btw i want that TE gone before w e[pick so the Jones dont take a offensive player..we need so much defense it getting serious..

Its called doubling down on dumb, and Jerry is king.

If he would simply take a step back, stay out of the media, and brought in ONE person to make personnel decisions this would be much more enjoyable for everyone....him included.

But the ego won't allow it.

The soft media and what Landry built allows him to get away with it year after year.

Its absolutely true that every team has serious misses when it comes to the draft.

Thats why counting on it as a sole means of acquiring talent is ridiculous.
