No, what I am saying is at the time of their signing, guys like Poe and McCoy were still starting quality caliber players that at least had a track record of high level play. Griffen almost had 10 sacks in 2019 before we signed him.

These guys are just JAGs, with no real track record of anything but mediocre play. They are roster bodies, back up types.

Urban actually has a track record of being a very stout run defender. He even showcased it against the Cowboys in 2019.

Probably a downgrade to Aldon Smith, assuming he’s not brought back. And we were bottom 3rd in the league at getting after the QB last year. A very under talked about fact

It’s not Smith was actually terrible. He had one good game vs Seattle and that was it. He was too slow, and showed lack of effort on tape.

Aldon Smith looked strong and aggressive early in the season last year. By the halfway point, he had slowed down tremendously. Maybe that's what has caused the Cowboys to be hesitant about bringing Aldon back? Or maybe, Aldon is asking for too much money to resign? Basham only cost $3 mil / year to sign.

I noticed that Aldon is not considered a top free agent. He did do some dirty work. I would love to see him split snaps with Gregory.

Stout seems like an overstatement but nevertheless he's still a JAG DT. He just is. This team is SCREAMING for better talent at the DT position and they signed two roster bodies. We needed a difference maker. Instead we get bottom of the roster slop. None of these guys move the needle.

Do you remember the press conferences on day 2 and 3 that year? On Friday night they mentioned they almost traded back into the 3rd round for another defender. Then the next day admitted it was Armstrong and had trouble sleeping at the thought of losing him. No way he'd be there for their 4th round pick. But they lucked out.

I think about that every time I watch that stiff play.
