we need to go young with the db's to keep up with the teams we will face this year. STAY away from the older dudes that been banged up and injured.

yes but they got whooped pillar to post. DOMINATED. The interior dline and linebackers stomped them. TWO missing tackles didnt help, but is hardly the sole reason they got dominated. DEFENSE still is the great equalizer in Jan.

The question is whether our Defense would have taken advantage in the same situation.....the answer's 'No' As you say we still need 'some' talent on the Defense.

I don’t know if I’d call the WHOLE front seven “woeful”. Our DE group is pretty good, at LB Smith COULD have a bounce back year if Quinn utilizes him right, and I still think LVE just needs to be healthier. Giff and Berny have promise, but they’ll likely draft one. The main weakness is the middle. Gallimore looks good, but they need a couple of guys with bulk. We’ll see.
ourlinebackers were a huge liability against the run and pass. They stank. If Quinn can fix that area then he is a miracle worker. We cannot ignore the debacle that was our linebacking group. then expect a better result. Good players always find a way to make plays. Our never really did.

The good news with Kazee is that he's negotiating with the Cowboys. At least, he bears indications of being attracted to them enough to pursue it. I think it's entirely possible that our medical staff had reservations about Hooker and his physical status. It's also likely that the Cowboys' bargaining reflected that situation.

Whatever the case, let's hope Kazee finds a home in Frisco and with the Cowboys team. His veteran presence should be something of value to a team attempting to reestablish itself, in terms of their defensive capabilities likely improving. Let's not get testy if his playing time is fairly limited, however. Achilles tears take lots of time to fully recover from, even in the best of circumstances. At least a year is usually minimal.

Dont forget how Tampa offset KC in the SB...they manhandled them up front and with their linebackers. They punished them and Mahommes. He couldnt get the ball out to his playmakers. NOT 1 TD from a pass happy team. SOMETHING needs to be said for this. I think this is how you beat passing teams..with rock solid D. We need to be nasty in the trenches first and foremost.

100% facts, we need to get better up front, I want to see that improvement from last year.

and Tampa is a very athletic fast, physical defense. Is Quinn aware of this and building the defense in this mold? So far, the signings we have made are actually encouraging. Brent Urban and Kearse, NEAL are tell tale signs of this I think. Its a copycat league guys. We saw the formula on Super Bowl Sunday. It would be foolish to not try this from a team building standpoint. We clearly need to be more physical and I think thats the goal here. I am excited for the draft, bring it ON!!! Get your popcorn ready guys. We aint done in free agency either. All Jerry has to do is rework a deal or two and just like magic, we free up all the money we need to sign whomever we wish. Money isnt really an issue, contrary to what you hear some pundits on YT channels, and TV say. Its all bogus. The mere fact we hired Quinn, fired Tomsula and brought in Joe whitt is very telling. Clearly its a HUGE philosophy switch from finesse to physicality and higher FB IQ guys. You set the tone in football at any level, with how you approach the game. I dont care if its pop warner or Highschool. Its the same at this level. Reinventing the game isnt needed. Just beating your man 1 on 1 and knowing your job clearly. Last year guys never had a fair chance to play fast because of many factors that we all know. The biggest issue that hurt us last year was alot of confusion on D because we never had a true camp and offseason to sort all this out. Just being fair to Mike Nolan. I dont think he was nearly as bad as we think. Its that he never had the talent or the time to implement what he wanted. Tells us also how stubborn he was, which is what got him fired. He should have been much more flexible than he was. We tried to implement all these coaching changes and scheme changes via zoom and during the season. A RECIPE for what happened, a disaster.Couple that with all the poor free agents we signed, and the massive amounts of injuries we endured. Mike McCarthy will essentially his rookie year this year as a Cowboys HC and the heat will be on him squarely. We gonna find out without doubt if he was a good hire or if he was a massive mistake. His pressers last year should have gotten him canned. He was just ridiculous..stubborn and unwilling to change out bad players for guys like Wilson til it was too late. Sorry for the little rant. lol..Lastly, lets hope he threw his analytics into the trash can..because he lost a couple games for us using that idiotic basis. Good news is we have Quinn and hes a HC in waiting if the wheels come off early. I have a ton of faith in him.

yep, and if we can nail this draft, we got this. It will be the job of Quinn and MM to not mess it up at that point. If we can fill the gaps with solid rooks and let them develop on the field during the year, by the time the stretch run comes we should mesh and maybe get hot at the right time. We will take our lumps tho thru the first half of the year. It could look ugly, but we will get better. I am a realist.

people need to understand^this. Its how you win games. It allows your featured skill guys to do what they do. You dont build a winner any other way. ALWAYS been that way and always will.

Dunno, except MAYBE they are looking at drafting a guy to fill that role. I admit, it is stunning that we refuse to even kick the tires on him. I never wanna see teams routinely gash us up the gut game in game out for 10 yards per and over 200 a game again. This offseason was a massive failure if we dont fix that FIRST.
